I think this is my first time seeing a ~big #YouTube channel talking about the #Fediverse in detail, the small number of others have at most just mentioned it for one or 2 seconds.
I've modified my WordPress instance so that my premium content will be hosted there in the future. I have only one premium article there right now, but I plan to migrate more from Ko-Fi.
Of course, the non-premium content is always available there.
I'm no longer using Ko-Fi for new subscriptions.
Everything as far as subscribing, donating, buying a login on my Mastodon instance is now on my blog. It talks directly to Stripe without having to go through Ko-Fi.
I haven't moved my French-language blog yet, but it should soon follow.
Anyone have tips about a very low-spoon, easy set-up way to cross-post from Wordpress to Mastodon, keeping alt text in tact? Ideally free or one-time-purchase, not a subscription.
Specifically looking to make an account that will share my #illmarks body bookmarks. Open to instance recommendations for my art sharing bot as well.
ActivityPub is so neat! With all the new implementations coming out, it's slowly becoming my "one stop shop" internet aggregator.
For example, all from within my Mastodon instance I can:
Follow communities on Lemmy and Kbin, allowing me to interact with every post/comment and make my own post or comment to any community.
Follow my favorite podcasts and get new episodes directly in my feed via PodcastIndex.org
Follow WordPress blogs that have the ActivityPub plugin activated.
SOON enough I'll be able to:
Interact/follow accounts on Threads (and hopefully someday Instagram)
Follow/interact with comments/posts/communities from NodeBB forums.
This protocol is changing the internet and how I use it every day.
PS. If you want more information on how to do any of these things, just let me know and I will explain. Though please limit to asking about one or two at a time, as some are quite intricate in their implementations.
Edit: Nitter has been shut down 2 days after I posted this. Oh well. Fuck Xhitter
I wonder if there is any good managed #WordPress? Feels like every time we migrate to one, it gets sold, get crappified, and then it can't even do basic shit like closing the site automatically when $ wp core verify-checksums has been showing a shit load of extra files like a892982.php for days.
If you sell managed WordPress, it should for a very minimum do automatic updates for plugins and check for viruses. I know I could roll sufficiently well on my own, but I don't run servers (anymore).
You may have heard that WordPress is now federated with Mastodon. What does this all mean?
Well, very simply, people with WordPress blogs can now automatically publish their new posts to a Fediverse address where they are available to Mastodon.
Thanks to all the wonderful people who already follow me here on #Mastodon and interact with my content. I hope to bring some unorganized, not very thought out content to the #Fediverse very soon!
