I recently asked someone who has 150k+ followers on #TikTok and cross-posts to #Instagram if they would join + cross-post to #Mastodon too.
They politely declined. 🙃
No reflection on that individual; but I was thinking that there isn't the incentive to post on Mastodon the same way there is on TikTok / Instagram.
The algorithm actually works for "content creators". They produce content which keeps people on the platform, so the app pushes that content to people to keep them on the platform.
Is there want/need for a #fediverse#tiktok clone? I developed some #activitypub software a while back and I'm not using it for anything, but turning it into a short video app should be easy. Thoughts?

Freaking TikTok protect #Russian#troll account posting video in support of Swedish Neo-Nazi group #NMR and when I posted comments exposing them in #English and #Swedish, my comments get removed and TikTok refuses to reinstate it.
This is freaking upsetting.

Leider ist das #Fediverse in den allermeisten Köpfen noch immer nicht angekommen bzw. gar nicht existent. In meinem Umfeld weiß auch niemand, dass es das gibt, geschweige denn, was was es ist und kann.
Und auch nach Info von mir findet das eigentlich keiner sinnvoll, weil die Gehirne so von den großen Playern indoktriniert und manipuliert sind, dass man ohne #Facebook, #Twitter aka #X, #Instagram, #TikTok usw. nicht leben kann 🤷🤦🤡🤮
Auf der Crossover-Bühne #stage5 (Programm wird zur Hälfte von #rp24 und zur Hälfte von #tincon kuratiert) geht es weiter mit der Suchfunktion von #TikTok.
Erhoffe mir herauszufinden wie ich dort die rp24 Beiträge finde. Im Moment komme ich nur zu Videos vom Retourenprinz24.

Solltet ihr Vorschläge für andere Plattformen haben, wo öffentliche Kommunikation zur Veranstaltung stattgefunden hat, lasst es mich wissen.

#France declared a state of emergency on the Pacific island of #NewCaledonia after clashes broke out between authorities and pro-independence protesters. At least four people have already been killed. Three of whom were Indigenous people, and the fourth was a French gendarme.
Protesters have been seen carrying heavy firearms, with reports of live rounds being fired at police.
Multiple buildings have been set on fire, and several supermarkets have been looted. White French residents have also formed armed groups to confront the Indigenous protesters.
Under the state of emergency, French authorities have imposed a curfew, banned #TikTok, closed schools, and placed restrictions on movement.
They have also deployed an additional 500 police officers, adding to the 1,800 police and gendarmes already on the island.
Protests erupted after French President Emmanuel #Macron introduced plans to reform New Caledonia’s electoral system, which would grant more French residents in the territory voting rights. Protesters believe this would unfavorably shift political representation in the country. The Pacific archipelago, home to the Indigenous #Kanak people, is rich in minerals and has been under French control since 1853.
