Seeing the Seagull at Twilight Theater in Portland. I’ve read it before, but never had a chance to see it. I think I’m partial to Uncle Vanya, but this should be a good show.
Runs for a couple more weeks if you want to check it out.
@deinol
That sounds great, live theater is one of life's great pleasures.
Just saw RENT with the wife Friday night, it was most excellent.
I will say this though, if you see a gun In that play someone better shoot it by the 3rd act.
@enobacon I hate the widespread lack of bike parking. There’s so many cool places I could ride to around my neighborhood but it feels the only place with guaranteed bike parking is fucking Safeway
Hi #Portland#PDX#BikeTooter neighbors, I’m considering buying an e-bike (instead of a car, so think one-person Costco hauls) and I’m wondering if anyone is willing to share insights/advice/pro tips on living the e-bike + no elevator top floor apartment dweller lifestyle 😅
I can move but I want to stay in the suburbs so an elevator is a tough ask… should I try to secure a storage/garage allotment? Is regular bike parking secure enough? Do I start powerlifting now so I can take on a 50lb bike?
@agnes
I'm pushing for the local town government to mandate secure ground-floor storage for everyone, apartments or single family homes. Preferably with an electrical outlet.
That will make e-bikes a viable choice for apartment dwellers, who anyway may have other things to store that people store in a garage, snowboards, canoes, etc.
@philip_cardella nice! I did post about the last game I was at, against the Thunder. I do like this Blazers team for playing hard through a devastated injury season on a thin, young roster. They're never boring. But while I def root for the Blazers I'm really a fan of the league in general. When they're good I get excited for that but when they're not it doesn't hurt my enjoyment of the game at all
Today in Labor History April 23, 1910: IWW farmhands went on strike in Yamhill, Oregon, when some were fired for teaching and talking about Industrial Unionism. The workers were demanding a 30-cents per hour raise and a decent bunk house. Farmers tried unsuccessfully to hire strike breakers and started slandering the strikers' wives. Fellow IWW members from Portland helped bring supplies and sabotaged some of the farmers' trees.
