lnav is a terminal-based log file viewer (TUI) for #Linux, #FreeBSD, #macOS, and other #Unix like systems. It combines the functionality of tools like tail, grep, awk, sed, and cat into a single interface. It also allows you to run SQL queries against your log files to build reports and offers basic support for Linux containers like Docker. lnav – Awesome terminal log file viewer https://www.cyberciti.biz/open-source/lnav-linux-unix-ncurses-terminal-log-file-viewer/
Trying out Ebou. A cross-platform Mastodon client, written in Rust, that groups timelines by poster rather than post, somewhat like a chat client. Not sure if it'll become my daily driver, but still an interesting concept to investigate.
🎉☀️🌑🔭 My updated Solar Eclipse Live App is now available on the #Apple AppStore. It works on #iPhone/#iPad/#MacOS.
Honestly, it's so good, it really shouldn't be free, but it is! So give it a try and explore ALL future solar eclipses until 2200 in a slick #SwiftUI interface.
there really aren't that many good looking #mastodon desktop clients sadly (outside of #macos but then they all look more or less the same because of #swiftui, not to say they don't look great)
The constant #disinfo sown by VPN and #AV providers is so rampant that I'd not be surprised if one day both would finally be made illegal for all the right reasons:
It should be the sole responsibility of the OS/Distro maintainers to make them.secure by default, espechally on #iOS and #Android where users don't have administrative / #root privilegues!
Tusks is a little indie Mastodon app by @bardi that lets you see just your posts and compose new ones (with a focus on making it easy to compose threads).
Love to see indie devs making useful little tools that do what they say on the tin and nothing more (check out the privacy policy in the attached screenshot).
My terminal of choice on Mac, Warp, just got a Linux release! I don't use any of the warp ai/drive features but I do like the Launch Configurations feature and it's general workflow. Now we just need to convince them to flatpak it. 😜 #linux#flatpak#terminal#macOS
Do you, or have you ever, used a graphical user interface? If you use #Windows, #macOS, or any version of #Linux with a window manager or desktop environment, you can thank Dr. Clarence "Skip" Ellis.
Dr. Ellis worked at Xerox PARC, the research organization that developed the modern GUI. Icons, windows, the mouse, Ethernet-based networking, laser printing - all of these (and more) came out of PARC. Dr. Ellis led the team that created Officetalk, the first program to use icons and the Internet. He got his start at 15 years old showing a local tech company how to reuse punch cards, which was a game-changer back in 1958.
Oh, and he was also the first black man to earn a PhD in Computer Science.
25 years ago today, Google was founded.
On the same day, I wiped Windows 98 off my computer, believing that Debian Linux (which I had been using for a while but still kept Windows on another partition) could do everything I had been doing with Windows until then.
Since that day, many installations of Linux, *BSD, MacOS have graced my computers, but Windows has remained, on a few occasions, only an occasional (unwelcome) guest.
In the spirit of a typical support group phrase, I can joyfully say:
'Hello, I'm Stefano, and I haven't been using Windows as my primary operating system for 25 years.'
