ofcls plan to pursue the cases against past Day even if he
wins, under the belief that dept rules against charging or prosecuting a sitting president would not kick in until Inauguration in Jan…
That may become more consequential given ruling on presidential , which probably will lead to further delays to Trump’s trial in DC & already affected 1 of his state cases.

@Nonilex Yeah right. He couldn’t get a case off the ground after 4 years and failed to uphold the Constitution by allowing an insurrectionist to run for the highest office in the world without even charging him for it (preemptive note: the famed “J6” indictment is for fake electors, not insurrection. FACT.). I’ll not hold may breath.

@Nonilex unfortunately, I don’t think Trump will ever see prison time. Ever.

#Trump’s NY #FalsifiedBusinessRecords #ElectionInterference#HushMoney” sentencing may be postponed due to #SCOTUS #immunity ruling

Trump’s lawyers are seeking to vacate his #NewYork #conviction based on Monday’s #SupremeCourt ruling on presidential immunity. The Manhattan DA #AlvinBragg says he is not opposed to a #delay requested by Trump’s lawyers so they can seek to vacate his conviction.

I am no expert, but these charges apply to Trump as a private citizen. He was not President at the time he committed the felonies. Therefore, no Presidential "immunity."

Even if he had committed them while in office, it is hard to imagine how a #SCOTUS , even one as partisan and stupid as the current one can argue that campaigning for the office give you the immunity of the office. Everyone RUNNING for President has immunity? That would be insane even by the standards of this Court.

@Nonilex If the judge already ruled this then what is the hold up? Not an "official act" therefore get on with it...

#SCOTUS #Trump #immunity ruling poses risk for #democracy, experts say

Former #Nixon White House counsel #JohnDean said Monday that had the court’s ruling been in force in the early 1970s, #history could have turned out very differently.
“As I looked at it, I realized Richard Nixon would have had a pass” because the #evidence against him was based on #OfficialActs the #SupremeCourt has deemed #immune from prosecution.

Trump took the action hours after a ruling granted him immunity for official acts committed in office.

The 34 criminal felonies had in no way anything to do with his official acts as president.

@Nonilex maybe Biden should shoot Trump as an official act in office - to save the US from drifting into a dictatorship and fascism (and many other things).
Should be legal now, after the new ruling 🤪

You can believe in limited government or you can believe in broad immunity for the executive. You can't believe in both because they are litteral opposites.

is supposed to rule this morning on ’s claim that he is immune from prosecution on charges of trying to overturn the 2020 election.
The decision will determine whether & how special counsel ’s case against Trump can proceed — although it’s unlikely a trial would happen before Day. But the ruling could also set an important for how to prosecute presidents for their actions in office.

@Nonilex he is of course correct. The difficulty, until the court is rebalanced & this apocalyptic travesty of a ruling is undone, is that time marches on...there will be more and more of these wannabe Kings, dictators who will step right up. We are playing by the Queensbury Rules of politics....our enemy is not, & they have now gotten control of the referees, the final round is upon us.....and it is the refs, not the voters, who will determine Nov's winner. Hope that's clear.
