#Trump’s NY #FalsifiedBusinessRecords #ElectionInterference#HushMoney” sentencing may be postponed due to #SCOTUS #immunity ruling

Trump’s lawyers are seeking to vacate his #NewYork #conviction based on Monday’s #SupremeCourt ruling on presidential immunity. The Manhattan DA #AlvinBragg says he is not opposed to a #delay requested by Trump’s lawyers so they can seek to vacate his conviction.

What gets me is that this means that Trump (and ALL presidents) are immune to prosecution for crimes they committed even before they were elected president.

The DA’s office noted in a letter to the court Tues that sentencing would have to be delayed from July 11 for the defense to make its case.

Supreme Court Justice Juan has previously ruled that ’s conduct in the case has nothing to do with his official duties as president, a decision Merchan made when rejecting a request by Trump’s lawyers to postpone the trial until after the ’ ruling on .

Justice must now rule on whether to formally adjourn the sentencing.
Even as prosecutors said they would not oppose a delay, they also said in their letter that the defense arguments about how the ruling should affect the case are “without merit.”

@Nonilex

I am no expert, but these charges apply to Trump as a private citizen. He was not President at the time he committed the felonies. Therefore, no Presidential "immunity."

Even if he had committed them while in office, it is hard to imagine how a #SCOTUS , even one as partisan and stupid as the current one can argue that campaigning for the office give you the immunity of the office. Everyone RUNNING for President has immunity? That would be insane even by the standards of this Court.

@Nonilex

Thanks for pointing out he's ruled once on this and likely won't change anything.

@Nonilex If the judge already ruled this then what is the hold up? Not an "official act" therefore get on with it...

Unless of course they never wanted to hold T accountable in the first place... 🤔

@Nonilex If there was worry Alvin would not be okay with a delay. The judge is going to see through this move.
