Dominion Media Television keeps knocking it out of the park. It's a shame I haven't convinced the author to come over here to the #Fediverse yet, but I will, one day.
I'd like to see the fediverse celebrate this year's #juneteenth by lifting up Black voices, and making Black people feel more welcome here.
To people who feel really strongly about quote boosts, putting content warnings on people's lived experience, and denying all the evidence of racism being prevalent here, maybe take a break for just one day.
Juneteenth is a celebration of liberation as we remember the African Americans who were freed by Union troops across Texas on this day in 1865.
If you want to learn more, particularly if you’re outside the US, we’ve found that the National Museum of African American History & Culture has a great resource here: https://nmaahc.si.edu/juneteenth
We also encourage you to check out our Black Voices Community to learn about the struggles people of colour face in the modern day.
Does anyone have experience #selfhosting it (not necessarily locally, but via a DIY hosting solution like #NearlyFreeSpeech)?
Alternatively, any recommendations for #microblogging solutions that integrate nicely with the #fediverse?
I’ve found #wordpress to be too cumbersome, and I don’t really want to pay subscription costs for micro.blog if there’s a comparable self-hosting alternative.
I think one of the things that most annoy newcomers to the #Fediverse is that unless you're looking at a post/profile on its original server, everything about it is wrong or incomplete. The replies, the number of followers, the number of reactions.
I am aware of workarounds like running a custom script that pulls missing replies into Mastodon or a third-party client doing it but does anyone know if another #ActivityPub server software has a better approach out of the box?
As part of our mission to bring more high-quality journalism to the fediverse, we’re federating today the profiles of nine U.S. media sites, bringing their content to Mastodon and other platforms. We think this is especially important now as the world faces serious crises like Ukraine, Gaza and climate change — not to mention pivotal elections coming up this year in several countries.

Auch im #Fediverse stelle ich immer wieder fest, dass sich hier Klimaleugner, Faschistenkuschler und Fake-News-Verbreiter tummeln. Solche Deppen braucht niemand. Meldet sie daher bitte konsequent. Danke! ❤️
Today, @Curia is back on the fediverse with their new Mastodon instance.
This is part of a broader @fediversity effort funded by @EUCommission and @EC_NGI initiative for an open and decentralised internet, bringing easy-to-use, hosted cloud services with service portability and personal freedom to everyone.
This 2017 Aspros Lagos (Douloufakis on Crete) is Vidiano in acacia and oak. Deep and dry, it has good balancing acidity and some touches of maturity, but it is doing great. It should continue to hold for a few more years, perhaps more than anticipated. That tight, tense finish is enticing. It's best with food. About $35, 14.1% #wine#greece#crete
So, now that non-Masto places are "in the Fediverse," I see on BlueSky that this post appears there if you follow my Masto account from there. But it seems like very limited integration. I made a reply there to myself, and that only appears THERE, not here. I don't even get notice of a reply here!
Meanwhile, you can follow my Threads account FROM here, but Threads won't allow following Masto from Threads. One-way.
On the whole, if there's not better integration that this, who cares? #fediverse
