I was gonna started posting Dragon magazine covers as well as Dungeon magazine covers (yes the company that owns dnd also owns the rights to magazines called Dungeon and Dragon) but...

They are kinda crap compared to Dungeon magazine covers. Dragon magazine started in 1975, so a whole 10 years before Dungeon magazine came out. When dungeon came out the covers seem to have became better.

Like the first 100 (out of like 425) are just meh.

Famous Fantastic Mysteries vol. 13, no. 4 (June 1952)

This is wild! I particularly like the optical illusion which punishes me for looking at her cleavage by making it into a skull.

Somehow that axe has been handed down through time, I'm guessing?

Some of you might remember that before I fell off Mastodon for a while my partner and I kicked off a digital retro gaming, media, and anime 'zine: Between the Scanlines.

Since then, we've hit our tenth issue, reformatted the zine, commissioned artwork, and reorganized how we listed it.

Each A5 12-18 page issue is stuffed with retrospectives covering all eras of console and computer, classic ads and magazine covers, themed features and retro gaming and computing community contributions such as personal passions and projects. We always aim for cosy vibes inspired by 'zines of the 90s and hope that comes through!

Retoots are deeply appreciated, and we hope you'll pick up a copy or three!

Love the subversive cover art of this 1955 issue of the Worlds of IF science fiction magazine, featuring art by Kelly Freas. It could have easily made the cover of Métal Hurlant, a.k.a Heavy Metal, back in the days of its outrageous 70s era ⚡️

Worlds of IF has just been relaunched, check it out: https://worldsofifmagazine.com/

    Revivals.

I was a big fan of Métal Hurlant, to see it revived by the folks at Humanoïdes Associés is such a treat. And now another cult science fiction magazine has relaunched, for us to discover or rediscover: Worlds of IF

According to calithena, creator/editor/publisher of the Fight On! magazine, another issue drops (after many years of pause) in July! This was posted on a thread in the OD&D74 Pro-Boards forum, where he's been chronicling his return to activity and progress on the issue. I can't wait!
