Ok, this is an extremely niche question, but I'm trying to work with a list of files in a Windows batch script, and one of the files contains two single quotes in the name, so the batch script is interpreting that as a command. Does anyone know of any way I can escape those single quotes programmatically? I can't simply add slashes to them because I don't have access to the filename. Should I pipe them to a text file and then munge the text file? I'm happy to give more information if necessary; this isn't a secret or anything. #Windows#BatchFile#programming#FediHelp#BoostsWelcome
P.S. If your suggestion is not to use a batch script to do this, believe me, I've considered it, but at the moment batch is what I've got. I'm not going to install an entirely new shell to do this fairly simple task and I don't like PowerShell enough to go to the trouble of scripting in that. If I were to write a non-shell program, I would probably write it in Python as that seems like the most reasonable option, but I remain convinced that there's a way to do this in a batch script.

As someone might already know, I'm building a graphic design project involving Fediverse onboarding, it's going to be a website where I try, as a designer, to find the right communication approach to help people to approach the Fediverse
Fonts are quite important in graphic design, however in this specific context the license and source of the font is something I should care about, since I'm basically trying to make a contribution to the open web. Of course, design schools rarely teach the good practices in the foss context, so I really don't know where to start. For example, are "open source fonts" a thing? After all they're basically vector files, so the content of the file is accessible by default, but maybe I'm just misunderstanding the concept.
For know I'm just aware the some typefaces are released under the OFL license and many online font libraries give access to a ton of those fonts. Google fonts is of course the most known one, however using a Google font goes on the opposite direction of the project mission.
As devs and designers, how do you choose and use fonts respecting the principles of the open web?
Now I'm reading that others that have requested their archive from other instances had times where it took over 24 hours....that's....less than stellar...😬😬😬

Been having a strange issue on the new Sharkey instance.
I have object storage on and it's going through my domain through cloudflare. However, sometimes the uploaded media goes to the media.thesocial.zone/proxy and sometimes it goes to media.thesocialzone/file/<bucket>. I believe the 2nd one is correct but I'm not sure why it's going to a proxy folder. Could this be because I have the "proxy" setting on cloudflare for the object storage and I should turn that off? 🤔😬

Trying to setup Backblaze B2 with Sharkey and there's a "Base URL" option. I asked about it in the Sharkey discord and was told I could "CNAME a subdomain to the bucket". Which I know how to do 2/3 of that but once I enter the subdomain for CNAME, how do I link that to the bucket?
I kinda wish Mastodon didn't exist at this point with how straight forward everything is vs how not straightforward this has been so far.
I prefer the Misskey/Sharkey look, but I am SO spoiled by Mastodon's documentation.
When I go to see old conversations I've had on Mastodon, I usually can't see the replies from other users. Can someone explain why this happens and what I can do to prevent it? I really like being able to refer back to old interactions. Would being on a larger server help?
