Why does American tv studios often use strangely tall chairs?
Here is one example, where Jen Psaki cannot reach the floor, so they have designed a special plexiglass stand for her to put her feet on, while her guest sits with dangling feet.
I do not recall this being a preferred look on Danish or German tv shows, and it looks really unnatural to me, but what could be the purpose behind this decision?
@randahl I suspect poor studio design. The director realized that the original chairs wouldn't provide the correct angles so they brought in these ridiculous things.
@randahl
Or maybe no one figured out the foot rail/ring is adjustable.
What gets me is shows that have NO chairs and the anchors have to stand. One of my local newscasts is like that as I’d the Sky Sports F1 pre-show. I mean really, can’t you afford a few chairs?
@Joe_Hill I do my show standing. This is just a personal preference. When sitting, I have a bad habit of slouching a bit, so standing works better for me. It also opens the possibility of moving about when explaining a graphic behind you, as you see weather hosts do.
