Russian state media is now using the words of UK politician Nigel Farage in their media campaign against Ukraine.

It has been 18 months since I switched from Twitter to Mastodon. I have written 8,800 posts here, and Google still ranks its search results as follows:

1: My old Twitter profile.

13: My Mastodon profile.

I am not impressed.

There's a German proverb: "Eine Krähe hackt der anderen kein Auge aus." (One crow will not pick another crow's eye.) - One tech giant will not screw with another tech giant.

Ukraine reaches another milestone: 8,000 Russian tanks destroyed.

This is significant, because satellite images reveal, how Russia's old tank storage yards are being emptied.

And as Russia is only building around 20 new tanks per month, it will take Putin more than 33 years to build another 8,000 tanks.

Hitler could not defeat the Russian army.

Putin could.

elpolacodesplegado ,
@elpolacodesplegado@hessen.social avatar

@randahl
The Soviet Army had the Americans giving them kit. The second most used tank in the Red Army was the Sherman. Funnily, those never appear in parades.

There is an American presidential candidate touring the country, talking about deporting the "criminal immigrants".

Also, that presidential candidate is from an immigrant family himself, and is himself a convicted felon.

While US billionaire golfer Donald Trump is gaining support for destroying America, the man who actually destroyed the UK, millionaire golfer Nigel Farage, is gaining support in the UK general election — again!

(Sky blue curve on the graph)

Sometimes I find it hard to believe, that we have survived as a species for 300,000 years with so many easy to fool individuals among us.

Yes. Humans are a collective of morons with the occasional Isaac Newton lifting us up every century or so. Then there's the Musks and Farages who think they're Newtons. But they're just morons too.

In this weeks TV show about the Ukraine war, military experts had 2 important points:

  1. By limiting Ukraine’s ability to attack deep inside Russia, Biden is preventing Ukraine from making certain strategic moves on the battlefield — e.g. dealing severe blows to Russian airforce capabilities.

  2. Whether countries are part of the war, depends on whether they are part of the kill chain.

My interpretation:

1/2

elpolacodesplegado ,
@elpolacodesplegado@hessen.social avatar

@randahl
Also there are different interpretations among countries, plus the German constitution is extremely restrictive when it comes to military operations. You need a parliamentary mandate AND it has to be NATO, EU or UN mandated. Coalition is not enough. Technically, he is preventing an opposition party suing in constitutional Court, which may put a full stop to any help for the duration of the trial.

You too can buy a Tesla, and support the main share holder Elon Musk, who abuses his social media platform to convince his 185 million followers, that the US justice system is corrupt, because his favorite criminal is brought to justice.

Or you could buy from a different car brand.

How did we end up in a world, where all content can be viewed from anywhere, but you have to pay for a VPN subscription?

The argument: You have to pay, because some content is limited to certain regions… which is what VPN proves to be false, because with VPN all content IS available everywhere.

Should we make cars like that?

👨🏼‍🦳 Well you need a VPN app, because this car cannot drive into France.

🧔🏻 But I just tried the VPN app, and this car can drive into France just fine!

👨🏼‍🦳 Yes, but…

Israel has been booed off stage at the Eurovision during rehersals.

It begs the question: Why is any nation, which is actively waging a war, part of the Eurovision?

That makes no sense to me.

elpolacodesplegado ,

Following that logic no nation participating in ISAF, Iraq and/or Libya could have participated between 2001 and 2021.

    Tucker Carlson normalizes Putin by interviewing him in Moscow.
    Marjorie Taylor Greene says Putin "protects Christians".
    And Trump says, he has a "great relationship" with Putin.

    When Denmark was occupied by the Nazis, opportunists tried to normalize them too. After the war, 13,000 collaborators were sentenced, and ironically, many were placed in the Frøslev prison, built by the Nazis.

    46 were executed.

    I wonder what will happen, when everything falls apart for the collaborators of our time.

    The UK charges a group with helping the Russian FSB torch a Ukrainian business in London.

    Our politicians keep claiming, we are not at war with Russia, but clearly, Russia is at war with us.

    All the while, Der Spiegel runs with their cover story. While FSB is able to convince two dudes to torch a business in the UK, they practically own AfD (16% of votes). The right wingers sue the government for arms deliveries and hold up parliamentary work at Russia's and China's behest. Several MPs and their assistants are allegedly in Moscow's/Beijing's pocket.

    Why does American tv studios often use strangely tall chairs?

    Here is one example, where Jen Psaki cannot reach the floor, so they have designed a special plexiglass stand for her to put her feet on, while her guest sits with dangling feet.

    I do not recall this being a preferred look on Danish or German tv shows, and it looks really unnatural to me, but what could be the purpose behind this decision?

    It has been an absolutely crazy week in Denmark. The Danish Fregate Iver Huitfeldt has returned from the Gulf of Aden with reports of serious equipment failure.

    Wednesday, a report on this incident was leaked to the press, and hours later, our Minister of Defence fired our topmost general, the Chief of Defence, and now our Defence Intelligence Service has been tasked with making heads roll, and some politicians want to restructure our entire central command.

    While the world is at war.

    Pavlovian reflex. Otherwise, politicians would have to respond to questions like:

    1. Who allowed for the vessel to be equipped like that?

    2. Were there any alternatives that were overruled politically during acquisition?

    3. Did the military warn about deficiencies and got ignored?

    Usually, you fire officers that quickly to intimidate the rank and file to remain quiet.

    A wave of protests continues in Germany against the activities of far-right forces and the right-wing populist pro-Russian party Alternative for Germany (AfD)

    More than 80 protests against right-wing forces were registered across the country over the weekend. According to Tagesschau, the day before, in Potsdam, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock joined the protests.
