Streaming services are getting more expensive, cracking down on password sharing, pulling content for tax write offs, and pushing people onto ad tiers.

But if you were hoping to go back to physical media, good luck! It’s almost impossible to find anymore.

@parismarx theres no renting tor-renting.

i was one of the first subscribers to streaming. be it music, movies, games whatever. Today i would need 6(!) subscriptions just to have all the series available i want to keep up with. Totaling at a whooping 90 Euros if i want decent quality so i can actually see dark parts.
Then i need 3 music subscriptions, 4 Gamepasses and still lacking content.

My premium tracker is 6,90 $ per month. Sadly there is only linux ISOs 😉

@parismarx I just bought two 4k Blu-rays (from Amazon, not Best Buy) so that I had physical media as well as the MoviesAnywhere code. It wasn’t difficult for current Oscar nominated movies.

@gadgetgav yeah i’ve found if something is new it’s easy, but depending on the movie it can become quite difficult after a couple years

@parismarx Same with music. For mainstream music, it's often difficult or impossible to get a lossless copy anymore. Even many musicians that do have downloads available to purchase don't advertise them next to the "click here to stream" buttons.
