Hey , Scarecrow Video is trying to raise 1.8 million dollars to stay open. I'd been meaning to visit, and they're amazing! Consider supporting them with a membership if you like physical media. (They also rent by mail.)

📽️ A region-free Blu-ray box set for the franchise will be released in October and you can preorder the Special Edition now, which will only be available through the Umbrella Home Entertainment website.

Lots of special features, too:

Personally, I hope they release them individually as well because I'd really like to own the first and last one, but am "eh" on the rest, lol

if you enjoyed 'Shōgun' the 1st 3 'Shinobi' films may be of interest as they effectively function as a prequel + lots of ninja trickery: walking on water, flaming shuriken, climbing claws, sleeping gases, poisons, flash bombs, tatami mats...

my of the new Radiance box set of 'Shinobi parts 1, 2, & 3' (1962–63) is published in Frame Rated:

Got my Special Edition Blu-ray of THE BORDERLANDS (AKA FINAL PRAYER in the U.S.) from Second Sight Films and it is GORGEOUS. It comes with 6 art cards and a 70 page book with a bunch of essays about the film. 😍

‘One day you’ll barter bread for our DVDs’. J Oliver Conroy's insightful article about the counterrevolution - the comeback of physical films, many good reasons why people go back to physical discs and why people regret decluttering their DVDs. 246 comments already, most agree.

Streaming services are getting more expensive, cracking down on password sharing, pulling content for tax write offs, and pushing people onto ad tiers.

But if you were hoping to go back to physical media, good luck! It’s almost impossible to find anymore.

In this order:

  1. Rip the BluRay-Disk (or DVD) with MakeMKV, you will got the film with all languages and subtitles in one MKV-File;
  2. Shrink the MKV-File with Handbrake and save it as H264/H265 or better as AV1 (better because open-source and the future).
