@GottaLaff Hi! I have literally never been there. I grew up in the middle of the city and rarely left it except for work or school. Then I moved to North Van, and I'm now a suburbanite (sigh).
@orionkidder North Van is beautiful. We looked there, but it was too hard to cross the bridge with all the traffic, so we stuck with PM, which we fell in love with on our first visit.
We move in May-ish. We've had a townhouse there for over a year, got perm residency about 1 1/2 years ago.
@GottaLaff Nice! Welcome. The city is kind of unfriendly and poorly run, but we have universal healthcare and very few guns, so the improvement is pretty palpable.

It is agonizing. All wars are. 3 of my high school classmates died in VN. Another was a quadriplegic. Another was shot and has psych issues to this day. All for what? To napalm civilians, carpet bomb a neighboring country. Joe got us the f out of Afghanistan, with problems T created intentionally, and gets slammed for it. He personally saw that Milosovic went to The Hague. I can't imagine how hard this has been for him. Fukem.
@dbc3@GottaLaff if Netanyahu goes to the Hague, those complicit in providing weapons will be joining him and that will include Biden and Blinken and their equivalents in UK and Germany. The old I didn’t know they were using our weapons to kill civilians won’t wash. That is particularly relevant to USA as 80% of Israel’s arms are sold to them by the US Gov..
@dbc3@GottaLaff I am not American, I think Trump is a pschyopath, but your inability to accept others have a legitimate point of view is similar to those supporting Trump trying to close down dissenters. You won’t change people’s minds by insulting them. The bottom line is If Biden loses the election that is on Biden and no-one else. If he can’t win back the youth vote and those from minority groups they are not to blame.
This is the most binary election in my lifetime. You are either voting to keep democracy or for an authoritarian regime. There is no middle ground. As Laffy said, a vote for a 3rd party is a vote for an authoritarian to take over all of 3 branches of government. It really is that simple. Don't try to muddle things with theoretical election bullshit. Reality matters.

The only solace I have for that eventuality is I think it would be short and devastating for them. I don't think we'd have a prolonged insyrgency like Iraq after we decapitated the government and failed to follow through.

This is why criminal convictions of Trump are so necessary. And the sooner it happens the better, as his supporters will have to align with a convicted criminal.
@GottaLaff@bigfishrunning@orionkidder You have the system where your vote can be wasted. In Oz we have preferential voting. You chose down the line. So a vote for 3rd party could be 1 and then a vote Biden can be 2 and so on. Your vote isn't wasted.
So, sorry Woodrow. You vote 1 3rd Party your vote won't count but it does mean the guy next to you who voted Trump will count. His vote basically has more power then you.
