“The #Biden administration cannot enforce new anti-discrimination rules in health care for transgender Americans, a federal judge in #Mississippi ruled Wednesday, citing a recent landmark #SCOTUS ruling that weakened the power of federal agencies.” #LGBTQ
@GottaLaff
Maybe if enough people realize that the administrative state that keeps people safe just had its nuts cut off by the Supreme Court this election might go a little differently?
@GottaLaff
Naming Trump a king doesn’t seem to moved the needle much, at least yet.
But that was yesterday‘s news, already forgotten about.
The media and the punditocracy is still way too busy talking about last weeks debate and the exciting high stakes sport of possibly naming a new quarterback before the big game.
@GottaLaff well except it'll tie up the cases forever while they argue in court over whether each thing is an official act. And the second and third of those are not so clear cut either.
Also impeachment is not the same as a criminal prosecution so presumably the rejoinder would be "yes these would all be resolved with an impeachment trial, but a criminal trial"
Except of course that means a president just needs a third of the Senate to get away with whatever violations he wants
@GottaLaff Well, that was predictable. Sigh. 🙄 2016's main issue was the SCOTUS. 2020 was SCOTUS. Will people FINALLY pay attention and believe...2024 is about SCOTUS!! #VoteBlue2024
@GottaLaff Except Biden has absolute immunity on all official actions. So, he absolutely can, and there’s not a fucking thing that judge can do to stop him.
@GottaLaff Since the enforcement of the law is an official duty, can't he just make the enforcement whatever he wants and they can't prosecute him for it?
@GottaLaff@aliza During a very down time in my life 20 or so years ago I’d listen to George Strait’s song entitled with those words, I hate everything. Thankfully I haven’t tortured myself with it since.
@aliza@GottaLaff I guess "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" is now for just some people? There has to be a constitutional challenge for this...
