The money being spent on malign influence campaigns is getting astronomical.

Republican billionaires are willing to do anything, literally anything to get & keep:

1. Tax cuts
2. Favorable rulings from SCOTUS
3. Oligarchy
4. No climate action
5. Pay-to-play policies (legalized bribery & public corruption)

And it's not just American billionaires buying a fascist movement.

The book covers many historical events and periods, from ancient Mesopotamia to #Ethereum, and is sort of an apologia for rapacious billionaires.

It misses much of what we're witnessing now, perhaps because it is unprecedented?

Part of why China is funding election interference for the GOP:

1. If Trump gets elected, billionaires get their tax cuts.

2. If billionaires get tax cuts, the fiscal shortfall will be funded by the sale of debt to China (& Saudi Arabia & Russia.)

3. The federal budget deficit will be used to excuse a rape of social security, postal services, the VA, medicare, public health & education

Immiserating treasury bond sales are Paul Singer's favorite too.

I've noted China brokering #rapprochement between #Iran & #SaudiArabia to derail peace between #ArabLeague & #Israel, and resulting #AxisOfResistance attacks as a precursor to US Election Interference.

Also noted China's #debtDiplomacy ensnaring poorer nations, but this angle of ensnaring #US in debt is new! Thanks!
