New York Times business editor Andrew Sorkin seeks an economic boycott on anti-genocide students.
He wrote in a column:
“Many business leaders have told me they are deeply concerned about incidents of harassment against Jewish students that have taken place at and around universities like Columbia”
“Companies could tell universities that they won’t hire their students”
“Wall Street, private equity and venture capital firms may uniquely have [a pressure point]: They could threaten to stop managing the endowments” of the universities.
“Examining D.E.I. policies [Diversity, equity, and inclusion] [...] What would happen if the Wall Street firms also sent such questionnaires to the universities before deciding to work with them as clients?”
“The most common course of action so far has been to pull back on individual donations.”
@faab64 One thing I've realized since 7 October is that Zionism is not "interests of a foreign country". Between having a strategic colony in the Middle East, benefits to the Military Industrial Complex, and keeping Christian Zionists happy, it's an American imperial interest.
@faab64 So, McCarthyism for protesting college students. It’s a very American response, that much is true. “Shut those kids up, and if they don’t shut up, beat them and keep them from gaining access to the levers of power.”
@faab64 I know it's just weird how far they are going, even further than law enforcement--sicking the police on them--which is bad enough. College is the time not only to express oneself but learn. To saddle kids for something so early on is a strange venture. Let me guess that these folks didn't have a good time in college. And they now hate their adult life.
