hemko , in Critical PHP Vulnerability Threatens Windows Servers

I hate the title of the article, it reads like it's windows server vulnerability instead of in Windows version of PHP.

I was already wondering is there some PHP under the hood on IIS, and if this would affect services like Exchange that rely on IIS...

As unrelated note, when can I stop worrying about tech I thankfully don't need to work with anymore

Watch out for the Wordle code dump!

Of the code listed - whose filenames indicate everything from the blueprints to Wordle…

Oh, shit, they’re serious

MudSkipperKisser ,

If my daily NYT games go down I will do something bad..I don’t know what but it will be somewhere in between knocking over a plate of spaghetti with angry gusto and complete nuclear global obliteration. I’ve yet to decide.

"No worries we'll just turn off this thing that nobody really wants or needs. It's still there and is a massive security risk but hey at least it's off by default!"

good news everyone! The public outcry was successful!

DaddleDew , (edited ) in Microsoft Will Switch Off Recall by Default After Researchers Expose Security Flaws

I refuse to believe that corporate bad faith argument that "researchers" just recently exposed those security flaws. The moment some overpaid idiot in a suit put that stupid idea on a white board there must have been a deluge of objections from anyone in the company with an IQ above room temperature. They just chose to ignore them until they realized how bad the backlash turned out to be.

NoneYa , in Microsoft Will Switch Off Recall by Default After Researchers Expose Security Flaws

Or they could just remove it entirely.

Couldn't they just roll it into Keychain?

paddirn ,

They have to eventually roll out a Passwords+ subscription service that people will pay for.

Passwords+ allows you to save passwords longer than 12 characters, import passwords from csv files and encrypt the database.

For only 499$

It will probably use Keychain’s backend like it does now. It seems like they’re just pulling it out of the Settings app into its own app and making it more full-featured— like the Keychain app on macOS.

A couple of months ago, they told the Microsoft sales team that they would not give them the data of their members. I want to know who they are working with to do this.

Signals emissions from ships is something the navy takes very seriously. Not only is it a risk for the usual secure environment reasons, but it can be used to identify and track a ship’s location from those nice 100+m unfurling signals intelligence satellites with sufficient precision to launch and target an medium to long range anti ship missile.

The Houthis may not have many of those satellites, but Russia and China do, and might be willing to slip some coordinates along with an request to Iran to ship over an appropriate missile to Yemen if they want to really distract some Americans. As such it’s probably not a good time for sailors to get sloppy, though that’s probably always true.
