it should be mandatory for all cloud storage stuff to be E2EE, preferably with quantum-resistant encryption.

Maybe, but only if windows users continue to not learn how to use their PCs

Just because you know what the buttons do doesn't mean you know how to use it.

They are if they have shitty security practices and never set up good security software

Only if the closed source black box has your information in the first place

Shitty security practices, and a lack of good security software is to blame for that

I agree with that, force microsoft to make windows open source.

Women are usually less inclined to do more technical stuff like that, the same way men are less inclined to become nurses and hair stylists.

That's how it's always been.

I like high powered flashlights and usually spend an average $100 USD on a flashlight whenever I buy one. Significantly fewer women are inclined to spend that much money on a flashlight. Much in the same way that most men are not inclined to spend $500 USD on a pair of shoes that you can't walk in.

My point is, men and women are different and therefore interested in different things

EmperorHenry ,

it’s not like you’re biologically inclined to buy $100 flashlights.

that's not what I was saying at all.

"Licensed" means they've registered with the feds, if they've done that, it means the feds can monitor your transactions.

Use Monero over Tor with obfuscation. Double the untraceability.

I hope the judges wipe their asses with any requests for warrants like those.

FTC Bans Online Mental Health Firm From Sharing Certain Data ( www.bankinfosecurity.com )

"Certain" data, but not all data.

Our data privacy laws need to be like Switzerland. Corporations shouldn't be allowed to collect information about us the way they do.

If they want to collect information for surveys, they should have to pay us and inform us about what they'll do with that data. It needs to be genuine informed consent.

anything at all except what would be effective.

Someone said elsewhere in this thread that bulk emails are usually sent through other services anyway. The scammers are just going to change the service they use to spam

Trillions, if you count all the taxpayer money that corpos get for free

use an adblocking DNS like Adguard and use a good VPN that won't snitch.

Proton or Mullvad, whatever works better for you, they're both good.

Regardless of what corporation it is. Always assume they got hacked.

Unless of course all their users' data is end to end encrypted, all with unique keys.

if a company like that gets hacked then it's like an intruder in an apartment complex, you got through the first door, now you need to break into each account one at a time.

Who the fuck would ever connect their fucking toothbrush to the internet?

That's almost as stupid as connecting your laundry machines to the internet, or your thermostat, or any other appliance in your house

EmperorHenry ,
@EmperorHenry@infosec.pub avatar

I'd be okay with that one too, if only it didn't have a microphone and camera and connections to google, amazon or apple.

Microsoft! The company that wants to have all our identity information in their servers associated with a QR code for anyone to hack and steal our entire lives from us.

I don't know why you got downvoted, this is important to know that it's not a good alternative to google maps.
