Someone who actually works at a service will never need you to enter your password into anything

They do encraption instead of encryption

They say it's sophisticated but... How? The domain isn't the same. It's similar. That's a flag. A phone call from any number is not a sign of credibility.. I will realize that I am not bulletproof, but I feel like this sophisticated attack, at its root, seems the same as any other.

@jqubed@lemmy.world avatar

I suppose from a safety perspective it’s better that they stay on during the day than off at night. I’m surprised they’re networked and affected at all, though. Most streetlights I’ve seen appear to work on a relatively simple light sensor. They turn on when it’s dark enough and off when it’s light enough, which means if it gets unusually dark from a particularly strong storm they come on during the day.

Why would a country discourage people posting evidence of their crimes?

FluorideMind ,

Brainless.

Woozythebear ,

Because glorifying crimes will lead to other people wanting to do the same crimes. They are trying to prevent crime instead of just reacting to crime.

Although I think taking away 2 years of someone's life for it is absolutely absurd and cruel.

Clent ,

Citation needed.

If glorifying crime makes people commit crime, then the rise of true crime addiction would have lead to more crime.

Aux ,

2 years is not enough.

Umbrias , in Police Chiefs Call for Solutions to Access Encrypted Data in Serious Crime Cases

Their specific argument doesn't work super well when you consider that one end of the e2ee can willingly reveal the other's messages. Which means their real complaint here is that they can't perpetually scan all communication without permission...
