Did you have "sex ed" (sometimes called "health class") in school? Did it help you in any way? Hurt?

Which of the following apply (check more than one if needed, so if you had a multiple classes at different ages check both)

If I could change one thing about the education we had it would be to have more focus on the reality of rape and the nature of consent. These topics weren't addressed much beyond a cartoon version of bogey men jumping out of bushes and I think it left many unprepared.

@futurebird It was a sterile biology lesson, devoid of useful, actionable information, designed to balance the unbalanceable goals of appeasing both the parents who wanted their kids to a) not get pregnant and b) not get AIDS with the goddy types who wished their children to get AIDS and/or pregnant while somehow remaining blissfully innocent.

I came away from it knowing how to say “Vas deferens”. Near-complete ignorance was achieved, putting it on par w math, science, and French.

Why do they make us do all that extra multiplying for (a+b)^2? FOIL? it's just a bunch of extra work. "show your work" ? I can do it in my head! (a+b)^2 is a^2 + b^2 And that's how it will be with me in charge.

FOIL is a deep state plot to add extra steps to homework!

(This is what Trump sounds like to me when he talks about countries paying us. And climate change... and everything. )

Friendly reminder that, as someone who lives in NYC, in the South Bronx (represent!) and who works in Manhattan and Brooklyn ... nothing has changed in this city because of immigration. You'd need to send like half a million people here before we'd even notice, and we'd mostly like it?

More stores are open. I'm amused that outdoor dining continues and I hope it never ends (LOL suck it cars.) That's the news from da big city, ya'll.

I’m making some “fractions sensitivity training” warm up questions for grade five and six. Any particularly silly or subtle suggestions would be a big help. These are too boring.

A. How is 15min like $0.25?
B. How are three cat paws like 45min?
C. How is 12min like holding up one finger on one hand? .. or like $0.20?
D. How is one ant leg like 10 min?
F. How is holding up four fingers on one hand like 48min? … or like 8 dimes?

@futurebird The one that’s always amazed me is people failing to grasp that “½ price” and “50% off” are the same thing. Can’t think of an example as good as any of yours — which are excellent, by the way.

(ETA: no wonder he needed AI, the fictions compound. Black republicans? Republicans registering black people to vote? Black Trump supporters? It's all made up like the star on that "American" flag.)

This isn't a parody of Fox. It's just what it's like now. They have an 'FBI guy' on using words like "covert" ... and he implies some kind of sinister team has "turned" Taylor Swift making her... uh... (checking my notes) um... suggest that people vote? Diabolical!

(Can she sue them for defamation over this? They imply she can't think for herself and that she's tricking her fans.)

He was one of the first Canadian authors to gain international recognition.
He wrote 43 fiction books, four non-fiction books and a lot of poetry.
He died in Toronto in 1943.
