Blocked lemmy.world after this nonsense, I was already sick of how closely that instance mirrored reddit; including the witch hunting. Had a few communities there I liked, but I can live without them.

some tiny hyper-specific communities like c/DeepRockGalactic, as well as c/AssholeDesign (there's a c/AssholeDesign on .ml, but it's as dead as a doorknob); also enjoyed c/shitposting from time to time

Companies: Will slurp up and sell every last bit of your user data to the highest bidder just to make one fraction of a cent extra profit

Open Source Projects: Stop giving us money!

No, then yes, then no again.

Long story, won't explain, I don't remember many details since it's been years since I cared about any of this stuff; other than "Gonzalo did nothing wrong, there is no AES, CCP and Russia lost their way due to Deng in China and the assassination of Lenin in Russia blah blah I'm an ultra or maoist or something blah blah".

Open source movement is the only thing I care about now.

Lemmy.ml tankie censorship problem

I feel like we need to talk about Lemmy's massive tankie censorship problem. A lot of popular lemmy communities are hosted on lemmy.ml. It's been well known for a while that the admins/mods of that instance have, let's say, rather extremist and onesided political views. In short, they're what's colloquially referred to as...

Sorry, I can't stand tankies, but tankies are still a lot more rational than the average US conservative these days. Conservative opinions should be censored and don't need a voice on this platform. "Everyone should have a voice, no matter how destructive and irrational" is its own extreme opinion.

Trusting this as a blind person would be a terrible idea, unless you had someone nearby who could verify the LLMs output (at which point they could just describe the image to you). At least it's local.

Definitely Chicago style, even if I can only eat it one time a year without my heart destroying itself it's still my favorite

CEOs are useless, AI is useless, checks out

It starts with a blatantly llm-generated image, with the text possibly being a chatbot as well; good journalism is rare these days compared to this mass-produced slop

Wonder if we'll see similar stickers around 2038

Well good thing we're well on track to boiling the ocean, the fish won't have to deal with plastic pollution for too much longer

Definitely Illegal hotel chain. It's actually weirdly exciting to me to go to an airbnb not knowing what amenities or rules to expect, compared to the standardized experience of a hotel.

XREAL Air 2 Pro glasses to give you a virtual “100 inch” display.

Wow!

It’s an ARM-based PC

Good!

it runs a custom operating system called SpaceOS, which is a built on top of Google’s ChromiumOS

Unless the bootloader is unlocked and it's possible to write an open driver for the glasses, Bye.

I couldn't care less about performance, I use OpenBSD as my desktop; I just want an open architecture that doesn't have some backdoor like Intel ME/AMD PSP and better battery life.

I self host mail/smtp(opensmtpd)+imap(dovecot), znc (irc bouncer), ssh, vpn (ipsec/ikev2), www/http (httpd), git (git-daemon), and gotweb, on an extremely cheap ($2 a month, 512M ram 10G storage) vps all very easily on openbsd. With all these servers I'm using an immense 178M/512M of my available memory.
