Jesus. Mighty Kingdom being 'rightsized'. What gross corp-speak.

    @vampiress that whole “strategic rightsizing” sentence is the purest corporate blurble.

    I figured out the xcode issue. Just not the solution.

    So, the engine xcodeproj in its own git submodule gets added to the game xcode project.

    It works fine.

    But on my M2 MacBook Air, same Xcode version, it expects the relative path name of the embedded xcodeproj to be one level shallower.

    Like
    ../lib/sapphia/[blah]
    rather than
    ../../lib/sapphia/[blah]

    So odd.

    @rfc6919@aus.social avatar

    @vampiress @buzzyrobin i was just about to suggest that. grep the project file for lib/sapphia and see if there’s 2 hits for both paths, edit to fix?

    rfc6919 ,
    @rfc6919@aus.social avatar

    @vampiress @buzzyrobin bleh. make the extra directory it wants, then “ln -s ../sapphia/ sapphia” in the intermediate directory so both paths work? 🤷

    It occurs to me I can probably just install SteamOS on my horrid, AI-infested Windows "gaming PC” and improve the general quality of gaming on it quite notably.

    @vampiress i was about to “is current steamos even available for non-deck platforms?”, and now i know about holoiso. sweet, thx!

    The use of "credits" as a name for space opera currency has always irrationally bugged me. Just the idea that everyone is living off actual honest to god bank credit sounds horribly dystopian, whether or not that's the point.

    BUCKAZOIDS. SPACE BUCKS. Now that's how you name a space opera currency.

    Gold Pressed Latinum Strips can stay too.

    @rfc6919@aus.social avatar

    @vampiress is bank credits better or worse than having to spend down your social credit score in order to get food&shelter

    @vampiress are there people who say they’re not about that? I feel like I must be at the very left edge of the IQ bell curve meme on this…

    @vampiress @puddletron oh wow, i love the idea of a Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes but with a physical bomb. simple hardware too, just an arduino or whatever, driving a bunch of LEDs, 7-segment displays, buttons, and switches. geez, do want.

    rfc6919 ,
    @rfc6919@aus.social avatar

    @vampiress @puddletron nice. hard to imagine how much super cool stuff almost exists, or never quite gets to product, or has a single instance sitting dusty in the dev’s attic. or, i guess, is totally available but never gets any wide visibility.

    rfc6919 ,
    @rfc6919@aus.social avatar

    @vampiress @puddletron yeah. incremental cost of one unit of software is zero, but custom physical controller less so. which makes game concepts like this just untenable except as experiment/art/novelty pieces. :(

    Good Morning!

    It's Friday, the internet is down so... welcome to Fuckit Friday! Grab those papers off your desk and just tip them off. Riiiiight into the bin. Because fuck it.

    Close your inbox, don't even bother trying to get it to zero. Because fuckit. Just grab your stuff and leave. Go for a walk somewhere nice.

    Appreciate the dying remains of this planet we've fucked over, because fuckit.

    Grab a coffee. Fire a billionaire into the sun using a huge trebuchet.

    Because FUCK IT.

    rfc6919 ,
    @rfc6919@aus.social avatar

    @vampiress now i want to work out if it’s actually possible to build a trebuchet capable of flinging 80kg from the surface of the earth into the sun. payload’s gotta be released at ~30km/s plus whatever’s lost to atmospheric drag. hrm…
