Not a native speaker, but shouldn't the word in this meme be anyways?

raspberriesareyummy ,

Oh, so this is why she makes these loud muauw sounds even an hour after eating her full ;)
(No, she actually wants to play then)

raspberriesareyummy ,

May I suggest you spend time with your cat & not online?
All the best!

raspberriesareyummy ,

This is probably the best thing about lane assist on modern cars.

Absolutely not. It's fucking dangerous. The one time I drove a rental like that, I went through a construction area downtown, and it tried to steer me right into a construction fence when I was following the yellow temporary construction lane markers that were going around the fenced off area.

raspberriesareyummy ,

If you know it's there & how to disengage it, yes. As I said, this was a rental with a dangerous system enabled & no warning. I disengaged it right after this incident.

Language requirement?

👆

If not - put them up in Esperanto :*)

raspberriesareyummy ,

to me, that clearly sounds like the best way to do it. ^^

Been there in 2009 - twelve years after the terror attack slaughtering tourists.
Nice to see, but Luxor souvenir vendors were something else...

HP tied thermal shutdown to Windows, meaning it doesn't work on Linux. ( imgur.com )

My HP All-In-One 20-c081nt has the processor Intel Core i3-6100U, which is supposed to not run hotter than 100C. On Windows if 100C is reached, the screen will fade out and PC will immediately shutdown. A warning will be shown at next boot. On Linux, seen in the video, the PC will simply keep running as if nothing has happened...

raspberriesareyummy ,

Did y'all sleep through the HP printer enshittification? No one should buy HP ever.

raspberriesareyummy ,

I absolutely need to get my hands on a properly made https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cranachan one of these days - since you appear to enjoy alcohol as well, that may also be for you. If nothing else, I need to go to Scotland to try that :)

raspberriesareyummy ,

Unreal Tournament 99 and Everquest. But those don't even come close to needing a fraction of the hardware you procured :D

raspberriesareyummy ,

Oh, a person of taste! :)
May I recommend BunnyTrack maps? I played those a lot in the 2015 timeframe and enjoyed myself immensely.

raspberriesareyummy ,

I see no problem here: I refused to serve in the military and did my service in a hospital instead. The Ukraine war did make me reconsider my attitude towards the necessity of a draft army.

Conclusion 1: I would emigrate and work against my country of origin in a heartbeat if they started a war of aggression (hello Russians) - unchanged from before

Conclusion 2: I would support with my medical and other skills those defending a non-aggressive country I live in

Conclusion 3: I might fight, given no other choice. But I would try everything else first, and I would probably not be good at it (fighting) at all.

raspberriesareyummy ,

Have you been living under a rock thus far? :)

raspberriesareyummy ,

oh damn I just saw I wasted my time responding to a bot. This post should actually be downvoted. Who in their right mind sets up a content forwarder bot from reddit to here? Keep that shit on reddit...

raspberriesareyummy ,

Great perspective on populism, thanks for sharing that article.

raspberriesareyummy ,

I’m a 10 year pro,

You wish. The sheer idea of calling yourself a "pro" disqualifies you. People who actually code and know what they are doing wouldn't dream of giving themselves a label beyond "coder" / "programmer" / "SW Dev".
Because they don't have to. You are a muppet.

raspberriesareyummy ,

while your measured response is appreciated, I hardly consider a few dozen downvotes relevant, nor do I care in this case. It's telling that those who did respond to my comment seem to assume I would consider myself a "pro" when that's 1) nothing I said and 2) it should be clear from my comment that I consider the expression cringy. Outside memeable content, only idiots call themselves a "pro". If something is my profession, I could see someone calling themselves a "professional <whatever>" (not that I would use it), but professional has a profoundly distinct ring to it, because it also refers to a code of conduct / a way to conduct business.

"I'm a pro" and anything like it is just hot air coming from bullshitters who are mostly responsible for enshittification of any given technology.

Gary Puckett & The Union Gap would like to have a word.... (Young Girl, 1968)

(Felt this post, so many songs I used to love, and with worse than questionable lyrics :( )

My face when: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iKNe9vd3Abk :D

Anyways, hello back, fellow old ;)

Republican caught sucking dick in an alley

That made me snort :D

raspberriesareyummy ,

Getting "The Purge" vibes from your comment...

raspberriesareyummy ,

this here, original commenter's take is the typical dumb take you hear from students of economy.

raspberriesareyummy ,

These are certainly words...

This take is insultingly dumb. As others have pointed out, trading goods for anything doesn't equal capitalism.

raspberriesareyummy ,

What what? Are you saying I can denounce "the holy spirit" and no catholic ever gets to bother me again? Not even theoretically? That is great!
Also, woud the church become sinners themselves if they know about one of their members denouncing and they proceed to collect church tax? Nice loophole if ;)

raspberriesareyummy ,

That sounds like the kind of abusive hostage situation that we westerners tend to associate with Islam, with no formal way to get out. Interesting, TIL...

raspberriesareyummy ,

Where's the extreme position in that list? oO

(I know, to the average US citizen, most of those seem extremist :( )

raspberriesareyummy ,

That’s the only extreme one to me. Higher taxes on billionaires is a reasonable take. Government forcibly seizing private property is not.

Except that billions are never private property - you have to steal from people to accumulate that much wealth. Or inherit stolen wealth.
Exception: stars, where people voluntarily spend that much money to listen to them / see them.
Not an exception: sports stars who get paid from sponsoring / advertisement revenues which in turn are stolen by slave labour / low wages.

Nevertheless, no one needs billions, so taking all private properties above 1 billion still leaves those people with an obscene amount of money that honest work can not save up in a hundred(!) lifetimes.

As for the military exit: While I agree that it's not possible, I disagree on the reason - a sudden shift of military concentrations (e.g. weakening presence in some area) is unfortunately pretty much guaranteed to encourage someone to start an armed conflict somewhere.
But that could be addressed in the form of the multi-lateral peace keeping forces mentioned.

raspberriesareyummy ,

Bonus points for recognizing Palestine internationally and getting Israeli war criminals in front of the ICC.

That is laughable. A US president to get war criminals before a court that the US does not recognize.

raspberriesareyummy ,

in the limelight.

raspberriesareyummy ,

*the Turkish nationalists.

There's millions of lovely and non-genocidal people in Turkey. Source: learning Turkish since 2015 and travel there a lot

raspberriesareyummy ,

That letter is way too polite for the "go fuck yourselves" that I had in mind...
I honestly think we should start actually spitting in the faces of managers of that kind that we happen to know in private life, be it family or neighbors, just show them disdain and disgust coming from people whom they have no power over.

raspberriesareyummy ,

I highly recommend using compressed air over oxygen. Nitrox 100 (pure oxygen) becomes toxic below 5 meters...

1.6 bars partial pressure Oxygen is considered unsafe / hazardous.

raspberriesareyummy ,

It's why I'll always remain happy with recreational diving at depths less than 40m :) Tech divers are a bit crazy imo. Sure, there's nice views to be had (if you bring a lot of light), but it's not worth the risk for me.

Meta to close Threads in Turkey to comply with injunction prohibiting data sharing with Instagram ( techcrunch.com )

Meta said on Monday that it plans to “temporarily” shutter Threads in Turkey from April 29, in response to an interim injunction imposed by the Turkish competition authority last month over the way Meta shares data between Threads and Instagram....

US, Japan, Australia and the Philippines to stage military drills in disputed South China Sea ( apnews.com )

The United States, Japan, Australia and the Philippines will hold their first joint naval exercises, including anti-submarine warfare training, in a show of force Sunday in the South China Sea where Beijing’s aggressive actions to assert its territorial claims have caused alarm....

raspberriesareyummy ,

I think the current designs would all use radiation heat, which means infrared etc light hitting the reactor walls and a coolant (water) running through them to generate steam, and then it's the good old turbine to electricity process...
Light emitted from a plasma that hot isn't that hot itself / wouldn't heat reactor walls to the same temps.

Disclaimer: Not a woman, there might be a biological / hormonal aspect to this that only people can understand who've been through this. However, and this might be an unpopular opinion:
The emotional pain associated with a(n early) miscarriage appears to be a sociologically constructed pain. If the people around us wouldn't make it a big deal, many would-be parents would also be less emotionally impacted by a miscarriage in the early months.

I am making this point from a "don't spend too much time suffering over issues that you have no influence over / things that already happened" perspective of mindfulness. When something has happened, fully accepting reality typically also means less emotional pain.
I do not intend to invalidate anyone's pain who has lived through this or is living through it. If people feel they need to mourn, that is a valid desire. Still, I believe more people feel the pain due to how much of a big deal we make it.

It's similar to how children that hurt themselves are more likely to start crying when the adults around them are all acting shocked, because that makes the children think something is wrong.
