Trump is now publicly fantasising about getting reelected and throwing the president's wife in jail, as revenge for 12 jurors in Manhattan finding Trump guilty of a crime.

I am truly lost for words. As a political campaign message, this makes zero sense.

Clearly, my field of political analysis does not suffice. If a psychologist or a doctor has an analysis of these ramblings of a madman, I am all ears.

@randahl I would not try to understand Trump's mind. The big danger is that you might succeed, that would probably cause irreparable damage.

I hope your right and he does lose. I am starting to doubt Ukraine can regain all their land. It devolve into some kind of ugly stalemate.

So while you & I might think its necessary to speed up the Green Transition & enhance/accelerate measures to reduce emissions, Shell's shareholders disagree.

The firm has just sought & obtained agreement from investors to slow down its measures to mitigate its environmental impact & reduce progress towards its own (already weak) climate targets.

More reason(s) the fossil fuels sector cannot really be central to climate response(s).

We don't have the time to slow down!

@Npars01 @ChrisMayLA6 Stopping subsidies for fossil fuels might be a good place to start. It would help level the playing field. It might take a long time though, so we should get started with other things too.

Fact: Hamas has already agreed to a ceasefire deal that would free all hostages.

Fact: Israel's reply to Hamas agreement to free all hostages was to invade #Rafah and murder even more people, while expelling all the refugees (over a million) to inhabitable areas without water, electricity or food.

I enjoy the fact that Mike Johnson defended his delay of Ukraine aid by saying, he had made sure to include long range ATACMS missiles in the bill… only to find out later, president Joe Biden had already sent the missiles Mid-february.

And he also defended the delay by stressing the importance of splitting the aid into four different bills… only to see the Senate rolling the aid into one big package they voted on.

But at least he got money for the US border… no wait, he did not.

Any group policing themselves is a bad idea. They are always too lenient.

The American constitution has ways built in to change the system, unfortunately we have a hard time making substantive change.

I have the impression that there are two distinct management groups (or schools of thought) at Microsoft that are involved in the development of Windows.

One of them works on the internals of the OS and strives to make it better and better.

The other one works on its user interface and strives to make it worse and worse.

If I were rich enough I’d

  1. Buy google adsense a huge buy
  2. target ads at myself: audience of one
  3. make ads transparent zero width images
  4. Experience peace at last.

Why can’t they sell a “no ads” global package? I have blockers on most of my computers and phones but now and then I still see ads and I can’t deal with it. I know I can pay more than these people with their little before and after images of gross skin— and the ads for games that don’t exist and gambling ads.

What is it like for people who are migrating to the fedi today ?

Are there still tools that help link old accounts and find followers?

I'm helping a friend move over, and it occurs to me that if the "find followers" tools are mostly hard to use or broken it might be very hard to get ensconced.

If you have a decent sized account here I think it helps to introduce new people, if you know them and have some overlap with their social circle.

    The US won the revolutionary war with a militia. It was created in the moment. A trained standing army would have been much better.

    In any case that is not a good answer to how we maintain public safety without police.
