I saw some sorta lefty commentator gloating about the supposed backlash that all these campus police riots are going to inspire. Greetings and welcome to reality. For a closer look at the kind of consequences we can expect for abusive police, here is a scholarly article from a reputable publication that tells you all you need to know.

Some COVID conscious people are worried about mask bans because protestors are wearing them. That's understandable, but (a) they are wearing them to mitigate COVID spread, and (b) even if COVID didn't exist, they should have the right to wear them to protect against surveillance.

Y'all, please pay more attention to what's happening on college campuses.

Heavily armed cops are violently attacking students and faculty immediately after they set up peaceful encampments.

Administrators are evicting and expelling students all because they exercised their First Amendment right to protest.

This is the sort of political repression so-called liberals worry about happening under Trump, but Trump isn't in office now.

Pay attention.

4 years ago today, Dr. Fauci contradicted Trump's claim that Covid would magically go away before the fall. After that, Fauci was sidelined from public briefings & barred from speaking to press.

@rbreich Three years ago next month, shortly before the Delta wave got underway in the U.S., President Ice Cream told the country, "If you are fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask." Tens of thousands of people, many of them fully vaccinated, needlessly died in that wave. The following year, he falsely claimed that "the pandemic is over." King Daddy Biden has never apologized or corrected himself. Robert, why do you insist on avoiding the truth?

Every now and then I hear conversations from outside of here about "the state of social media" and let me tell you: People are suffering. People are miserable. Many people feel addicted to social media but unable to have positive and valuable interactions in the space. Mostly, in the profit-driven social media space negative emotional reactions glue eyeballs as well as positive, so a heap of the experiences is just ... unpleasant.

Meanwhile around here things are different.

Four years ago today, the CDC advised all Americans to wear masks in public to avoid spreading covid.

Trump immediately announced he would refuse to wear one, needlessly turning masking into a divisive partisan issue and contributing to countless avoidable deaths.

The president has never apologized for making those statements, nor has he corrected himself. Where is the accountability??

The current administration's policy, like the previous admin's, is LET IT RIP.
