Complicity in genocide is not confined to the Israeli right. Members of the liberal organization that spearheaded the anti-Netanyahu protests last year are now blocking humanitarian aid to Gaza.

@fedwards9965 @rmblaber1956 @mondoweiss @palestine @israel Zionism involves creating a state. What part about making an ethnostate is anarchist?

where was this attitude for Gaza

mazel ,
@mazel@social.xenofem.me avatar

@Snowshadow @GottaLaff @Helderweb voting for Biden is voting for genocide of the Palestinian people, I think that's a pretty important thing to consider before telling people they have an ethical obligation to Vote Blue

@Snowshadow @GottaLaff @Helderweb speaking of police, Biden spends $$$$ funding cops who exist to protect private property at the expense of individuals' (especially Black peoples') freedom and lives

As of this month I’ve been taking Ozempic for a year and I will continue to take indefinitely. I want to share my experience because the way I sometimes see it discussed gives what I think is the wrong impression.

I decided to take it since I was struggling to regain full mobility after breaking my leg. I wish I could have discovered this drug 30 years ago.

I’ve only been overweight for 8 years. So why do I say that? 1/

@mazel@social.xenofem.me avatar

@futurebird @BethB I agree that Ozempic is great for helping people lose weight, and I support people who choose to use it responsibly, but I also think it's going to make things worse for many people who can't afford it, don't want to take it, or aren't able to take it, as well as for people with eating disorders and body dysmorphia.

Soon Ozempic will be firmly entrenched as

  1. a drug only for people who can afford it, further perpetuating fat stigma by associating it with being poor and disabled

  2. a drug every fat person is pressured into taking, regardless of its side effects, drug interactions, affordability, or medical necessity

Both are new incarnations of how society turns fatness into a moral and individual failing. It's diet culture enforced by pharmaceutical authority.

I don't mean to be an asshole though - seriously, thank you for sharing your experiences with it

Have you ever had an uncanny or possibly paranormal experience?

I have.

It happened when I was in undergrad, I had a work-study in the Archivists Office in the rare books section of the library. The library is a classic modern building from the 50s, once ahead of its time, now well behind. The computer system was similar, my college being one of the first to adopt a digital library catalog in the late 60s

So, as you can see, this is, in part, a story of a haunted computer terminal. 1/

@futurebird I saw "ghosts" in my college library, but in retrospect they were probably a combination of mental illness and lack of sleep. So, not very cool.

The only interesting library story I have is when one of the staff let it slip that a lot of the department believed I was an occultist who really was speaking with spirits. (I am not.) But that's probably because of my extensive weird checkout history and my fascination by a very old magical text by Johannes Jacob Wecker in the rare books collection.

    Did you have "sex ed" (sometimes called "health class") in school? Did it help you in any way? Hurt?

    Which of the following apply (check more than one if needed, so if you had a multiple classes at different ages check both)

    If I could change one thing about the education we had it would be to have more focus on the reality of rape and the nature of consent. These topics weren't addressed much beyond a cartoon version of bogey men jumping out of bushes and I think it left many unprepared.

    @futurebird my most memorable sex ed class was in high school, where we were supposed to brainstorm ways for women to not get raped
