@w7voa Is this where I mention that COPPA compliance when it comes to captured voice data is really really hard?

There’s adults who sound like children, minors whose voices deepen early, and overheard secondary backsplash just to name a few.

When you can positively identify a minor’s voice you absolutely need to lock that ish up under COPPA compliance, but the really hard part is those medium hypotheses where you can’t really tell based on the recording alone.

@alice @w7voa But you need the voice recordings alongside their metadata to train and validate your speech and intent recognition models.

So you have a choice between:

  1. Shitty experience for minors/people who sound like minors
  2. Storing voice data of minors/people who sound like minors

#2 can be somewhat mitigated with an automated deletion policy, though you have to come up with a strategy to mitigate continual data loss of your golden training/test set.

Brilliant proposal by German politicians: Let us place air defence systems inside NATO, and have these systems save civilian lives by shooting down missiles over western Ukraine.

This is pretty clever because

  1. Russia cannot bomb these systems as that would be an act of war against the entire NATO alliance.

  2. The systems cannot trigger a war with Russia themselves, as they are not attacking Russia.

Youtube back on its "turning your kids fascist" bullshit - watched ONE how to guide for a faction in Total War Warhammer II (a video game) and in the past two days I've had "recommended for you" - a Timcast episode, a Dave Rubin episode, TWO Matt Walsh episodes, something called "The ACTUAL Justice Warrior" (which is clearly some winger shit demonizing migrants) and multiple fanboy channels sticking up for Rogan, who it doesn't show me because I have Rogan filtered out already.

(Not a 40k person myself, just that the Smarter One likes miniatures painting and many of the Youtube artists he watches happen to focus on the game.)

The Hebrew University suspends Professor Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian, an Israeli-Palestinian faculty member.

She is accused of "anti-Zionist statements".

The university president demanded that she leave her tenured position.

In his letter, President Asher Cohen specifies that Shalhoub-Kevorkian signed a petition calling the actions in Gaza "a GENOCIDE", and Israel "an OCCUPYING power".

He says that since she refuses to resign, he suspended her for the "safety" of the students.

    @Tim_Eagon It’s a helles lager, which has rightfully been driven mostly into a niche brew by pilsners.

    It’s basically expensive Lowenbrau, which honestly is probably on point with the rest of the stupid thing as being what a 6 year old thinks of as a cool product.
