Yeah, they're fine. I use RedPocket for my daughters phone because it's like $120 for a whole year of phone service. They're often better than the 'pure' networks because they can fall back to AT&T when T-Mobile is down, etc. Often times they aren't only on a single network. Hell, Mint was doing so well that T-Mobile ended up buying them (probably to dissolve them, honestly)

kitnaht ,

They'll spin it as "Air travel has been on an upward tick!"

I run a business repairing consumer-grade 3D printers.

PETG just is a pain in the ass sometimes. Really sensitive to moisture, and it loves to stick to hot metal. So it has a tendency to overextrude because of the steam, and bunch up on the nozzle, causing all sorts of havok.

The key to printing it is just keeping it dry -- the latest batches I've held feel like they're way softer than I remember, so I suspect mfgs are putting more glycol in it than before.

Also, do a sanity check and go back and print PLA from time to time. Sometimes you won't realize something else is wrong and you'll blame it on the filament, but something like the idler arm on the extruder is broken, etc.

You can print it on Textured PEI, or Glass - but I suggest putting a little glue stick down to act as a release agent on the PEI - PETG and PEI bond together too well in some instances (ESPECIALLY on smooth PEI)

kitnaht ,

Hah! Did you paint that yourself? That's pretty cool.

kitnaht ,

Why in the hell would they shoot an already dead food service worker?

kitnaht ,

Do any of you young'uns remember MythTV?

We blocked ads when they were a part of the video way before internet ads were ever a thing. We'll be fine.

kitnaht ,

You know MythTV got a major update this last February right?

kitnaht ,

The Overton window has shifted. Center isn't where you think it is any longer.

Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas out of Olympics after losing legal battle ( www.theguardian.com )

The US swimmer Lia Thomas, who rose to global prominence after becoming the first transgender athlete to win a NCAA college title in March 2022, has lost a legal case against World Aquatics at the court of arbitration for sport – and with it any hopes of making next month’s Paris Olympics....

kitnaht ,

It's literally the most logical and ethical rationale that could be achieved. The ethical and logical rationale is that sexual dimorphism exists, and we understand it quite succinctly.

They are separated by sex, because people are separated by sex characteristics.

Since Gender no longer refers to sex, it only refers to perceived place in society, it has no place being used as a metric for sports.

kitnaht ,

If I'm born crippled, I can't compete in the Olympics. It happens. We can only produce the closest thing to fair that we all agree on. It's not to exclude transgender people, it's simply that the exclusion just happens to exist based on how we determine eligibility.

kitnaht ,

It's objectively the truth that sex is another class category created by humans to sort people and enforce a hierarchy of sex.

This is patently false. It was a category to distinguish between two observable variations of human. The category of man/woman existed in the annals of history far beyond what we know today. Before we were humans, we knew instinctively what a man/woman was. You see these systems in herding species already. Don't give me this "we created this division just so we could dunk on others" bullcrap.

kitnaht ,

Why should trans women be excluded for being above average but other women who are above average shouldn't be?

Because by nature of their transition, they don't fit in a single cleanly defined category. We should just change the definition to say: Those with XX chromosomal pairs. Because you can't change those. Nice and simple. Anyone with double-X chromosomes, good deal. Anyone with XY - goes into the "open" category - which is by default, the ones usually with mostly men in them.

kitnaht ,

I like you. I'm the same way. Never met an asshole that was being dishonest. That's why I feel like I can trust them more than I can trust 'nice' people.

So yeah, I might not be nice. In fact, sometimes I'm a downright asshole. But I'll usually give you the shirt off of my back to help you if you need it.

Just sounds like Florida to me.

100% humidity all the time. Temperatures in the 100's (F) (>38C). Feels like the air is thick and heavy constantly. It'll rain just long enough every so often to keep these attributes true almost all the time. Doesn't matter how fit you are, just walking to your car is enough to make you feel like you just crawled out of the swamp. Worst of all, Florida doesn't get Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter; We get Summer, Simmer, Summer, Fall.

kitnaht ,

I know basically saying this is some Nazi Germany style shit always turns into hyperbole, and isn't taken seriously. This is the kind of shit that leads to genocides and authoritarian nations

kitnaht ,

The phrase father specifically denotes a man. A transgender woman should be referring to herself as a mother; shouldn't they? So she is no longer a father to her children, but rather a mother, right?

kitnaht ,

No, because for others to understand it, it must follow some sort of logic.

If people all have different rules for what offends them, then those willing to learn, can never hope to ever achieve understanding. If you can never allow others to achieve understanding, then you're always going to be a victim and acceptance will never be achieved.

If you can't deadname a transgender woman their male name, then it goes to follow that they wouldn't consider themselves a "father" and doing so would cause the same offense.

kitnaht ,

I don't need to understand individuals to respect them, but I do feel the need to understand people as a whole.

kitnaht ,

I mean, just stop being offended over that kind of shit constantly and I won't have to worry about it. Stop calling people intolerant when they use the wrong name. Stop attacking the people who are trying to learn, and maybe they will.

Normal, people don't get offended if you forget their name. You need a set of rules that follows the stereotype. Then people can learn the stereotypical rules, and be fine.

kitnaht ,

Nobody cares. Nobody wants a progressive candidate, everyone wants a right-lite candidate, which Biden is. We've allowed corporations to completely take over our nation, and there is no non-violent way to bring it back.

kitnaht ,

People don't want a progressive government. They (at best) want a government that returns to the time just before Citizens united. They want to stop back-sliding. But they aren't thinking about "progress" in any way that I understand progress.

kitnaht ,

Uh, Obama, Biden, every democratic president literally in the past 25 years.

Do you think Obama was a progressive? If so, I got some news for you. The overton window has shifted, and every Democrat president in the last 25 years has been Right-lite.

Actual progressive candidates have no chance in these races. They're seen as "extremists" now.

I dare ANY candidate now to campaign on a $25/hr minimum wage. They'll get absolutely liquified by the media.

kitnaht ,

If that were true, they'd be doing it. It's as simple as that. A whole team of people who know far more than you are I, have decided you are wrong. I'll just leave it at that. I wholly disagree that Biden or Obamas platforms were progressive at all.

kitnaht ,

getting support for some services that I use

NAME AND SHAME please.

kitnaht ,

Surgical castration is quite effective. It removes the ovaries/testes which produce testosterone/estrogen. Problem is, from that point on, you probably need to take supplements, because I'm no doctor but I think you need those hormones for proper bone density control, etc.

kitnaht ,

You know they are, but legitimately I'm pretty sure a large percentage of them actually have solvable/manageable mental illnesses. I'm starting to pity them more than anything now.

kitnaht ,

My pity isn't just for them, but for the families destroyed by the rhetoric and the love lost between people.

People are so divided now on everything, everyone's caught up in trying to apply labels to themselves so they can be further divided into categories and discriminated against.

I'm really tired of the labels. Republican, Democrat, Right Wing, Left Wing, Fascist, Socialist, blah blah blah... these labels just help external influencers drive that wedge a little better.

Can't we all just be human and start to talk to one another? I think we'll find we have more in common than not. The only way to bring people over to your side is to befriend them, and slowly work on it. The fighting just causes everyone to dig their heels in so much more.

kitnaht ,

They are meaningless words, because the views of a person are far more nuanced than that. But by labeling yourself as something, people immediately get to start assuming what your views are before getting to hear them from you instead. That's the big problem with society today - everyone wants to be something unique, because we're all so connected now that nobody feels like they stand out. But by adding labels to yourself, you just paint a target on your back for people to aim for, because with that brand new label, people get to make assumptions more easily. You get to be divided off from the "rest" of society, and put in a special bucket and targeted.

kitnaht ,

People who are still on Reddit, are like people who are still on X.

No I don't mean twitter, I mean X the drug. Y'all mother f**ers are on literal drugs I tell you.

kitnaht ,

Nothing to note about Trickplay sadly :(

kitnaht ,

I mean, they've been all over Reddit running accounts for decades at this point, no? At this point I feel like 75% of my interactions on mainstream sites are going to be from foreign agents and/or bots.

kitnaht , (edited )

The Sci-Fi miniseries "The Lost Room", I guess is technically a TV show? :D

"My Happy Marriage" is a wonderfully sweet Anime that I feel got passed by in terms of viewership.

"The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window" was a pretty good (non anime) series too. -- It's a kind of hilarious take on scary movies and the tropes within them.

kitnaht ,

My only problem with that, are that those instigators are still here, instigating others. I'd love to see a site feature like 4chan has, where they geolocate IP addresses and put a flag next to your user name. I know it can be bypassed with a VPN, but I'd at least like these little shits to at least have to use one. Rack up the flags on the username too -- If the IP address changes from Russia, to USA, put both flags on the user. Set a super-cookie on browsers that tracks alt-accounts and connects them on the back-end, etc.

I believe in anonymity, but I don't believe in people making up identities and alt accounts, etc in order to 'dogpile' their own conversations in order to make it look like more people agree with them than actually do.

I just found out that my boss does this shit. He's got 3 facebook identities so when he's losing an argument, he jumps on "Richard" or "David" to dogpile the conversation and make it look like more people agree with him on internet arguments.

kitnaht , (edited )

The problem with paid account creation is it literally links your real-world identity to your online identity. That's the WHOLE purpose of it for Microsoft, they want to know who you are. Don't even start with crypto either, it's not anonymous.

kitnaht ,

Just in case it's not obvious, this was an edited, color-saturated version that someone had attempted to pass off as the real, unedited thing. In a world of lies, I just wanted to make sure people are aware. We've got so much of this going on today, I'm hoping at some point people start holding themselves to a higher standard; even on shitposts.

kitnaht ,

No, by all means - use edited photos. I'm just pointing out that this is close enough to reality, that it could be mistaken for a real picture.

If you had painted a white oompa-loompa suit, and green hair on him, I wouldn't have felt the need to point the picture out, or maybe even saturated the picture EVEN MORE, but it's getting to the point where you cannot trust anything anywhere, and there's no longer any real sources of ground-truth.

kitnaht ,

I think he writes that shit knowing the cameras will be there.

kitnaht ,

I used it for its true purpose back in the day, for Microsoft Comic Chat.

It's like almost nobody remembers that ... that's a thing that existed.

kitnaht ,

I remember figuring out a 10-Base-T network to get LAN Quake running, and dealing with Himem.sys and things like Sound cards needing to be put on IRQ 11 or IRQ 13 because they wouldn't work anywhere else.

kitnaht ,

And those furnace filters can be found in ALLLL sorts of sizes, you don't just gotta go with a square one.

kitnaht ,

I wanna know how to get one of these damn jobs; I currently play with shit like Proxmox and high availability clusters at home just for a laugh, and because I enjoy it; but with no formal education - and I'm making peanuts at work rn. I wish I could break into this somehow.

kitnaht ,

I certainly wish he was too. Just not in such a nice way :D

Wrong. Hung is correct in the same manner.

I reject your bullshit English rules that are outdated and churlish.

kitnaht ,

You're talking out of your ass. Stuff like this is mild compared to what it takes to trigger that kind of response. Millions of people make comments like these on the daily.

https://idahocapitalsun.com/2023/01/31/of-more-than-7500-threats-against-members-of-congress-in-2022-just-22-prosecuted/

7500 hardcore, actually-directed-enough-to-take-serious threats per year. Now, consider all the maga morons and their constant shit talking across the internet, and it's easy to extrapolate.

kitnaht ,

Sorry for being so harsh with my wording; I live in the south, so I've gotta deal with a lot of MAGA assholes and it's kind of ingrained itself into my personality a little. Also, thanks for looking out for me, I know you were just trying to make sure I wasn't targeted :)
