First of all, has a person ever looked more mischievous? I wish I knew her.

Secondly, this is a miniature portrait from around 1660. It comes with overlays that allow you to change her appearance for fun. Filters from 500 years ago lol!

Same painting, but now with an overlay. You can see most of her face, but she now has a dark moustache and long beard, and is wearing a thick dark cloak with a hood.

Cargo bikes are the future of deliveries!

I've been saying this for some time now. Never thought I'd see a US department say the same — but the NYC Department of transportation just did! And it's not the first time I've seen them post some really good stuff about bikes. This gives me hope.

    @CelloMomOnCars @AdrianVolt I have a very hard time believing that the size doesn't matter, only the shape of the grille! Size correlates both with blind zones (even a slated hood will leave a bigger zone on a bigger car) and with weight, and weight is incredibly important both on direct deadlines and on wear and tear on asphalt and tires, creating deadly air pollution and micro plastics.

    A new study found that 35 major corporations paid execs MORE than what they paid in federal income taxes between 2018 and 2022.

    Each of the companies generated billions of dollars in profit over the same period.

    When I say the system is rigged for the rich, this is what I mean.

    Study I'd like to see that won't ever get done:

    Do adults who participate in "structured make - believe" things like roleplaying games, collaborative stories etc. believe in conspiracy theories more or less.

    The thing I want to be true is that there is some innate need for imaginary play, and conspiracy theories are a maladaptive way to fill that need. But that's my bias speaking, it could really go either way.

    App idea for Linux: An app where I set a regular amount that I want to donate each week/month, and then it locally and privately logs how much time I spend using the different apps on my machine and distributes the money accordingly.

    With different options to blacklist some apps, weigh some apps more than others, always give X amount to some apps regardless of use, also give to things that won't be tracked (like the DE), etc.
