Résultats des européennes de Dimanche dernier pour quelques bureaux de la circonscription Europe du Nord:

NORVÈGE (listes + de 5%)

  • ENSEMBLES : 26,88%
  • PS : 23,27%
  • EELV : 20,62%
  • LFI : 11,56%

ISLANDE (listes + de 5%)

  • PS : 30,77%
  • LFI : 21,54%
  • EELV : 17,95%
  • ENSEMBLES : 6,67%

LONDRES (listes + de 5%)

  • PS : 21.93%
  • EELV : 14,58%

Planning a staycation in Copenhagen for a holiday this July - but with the weather we've had this year it feels a bit risky - I really like to load up on hot weather in the summer to get me through the long winter - perhaps there'll be a last minute train ride to France after all...

This will enable modern, web-native workflows and integration with the Jupyter Project . See this post for more! 👇

That is excellent news, Chris!

We are active users of the Jupyter Book 1 for our technical documentation, but were limited by the PDF build (among others).

We were in the early planning phase to migrate away from JB and into @mystmarkdown docs.

But this announcement changes everything. Now we can wait (and help test) the JB1 -> JB2 transition.

Do you have a ball-park estimate for the timeline? Are we talking 1-2 years (we could wait) or more?

Collective authorship: are their solutions for when a large (20-30) group of people (#academics, engineers, administrative support staff,...) are to be collectively co-authors of a research output? Something like a collective @ORCID_Org ? An "#ORCID for teams"?

I am thinking of research teams co-authoring a general presentation poster or a final report. We would not have to write their names and orcids in full. And not put some forward some with an order. #OpenScience

lavergnetho OP ,
@lavergnetho@fediscience.org avatar

@franz @ORCID_Org Thanks. It is a nice example. I've also seen similar "collective acknowledment" for large research cruises or expeditions.

What would be awesome is if the "ORCID for teams" would actually know the individual's ORCIDs and automatically attributed the result to the those too.

In Europe, flying is cheaper than taking the train.

It's an embarrassment, and a major problem: we have to stop flying for silly short distances. Realise that the overheads of flying (reaching the airport, awaiting 2 hours, the flight, the unloading, reaching the destination) largely cancel out any time gains of flying. And the carbon costs are utterly untenable. Not to speak of the modern, dire conditions of the whole flying "experience".

Another embarrassment is that train connections can't be guaranteed when across countries or companies. They aren't even coordinated. As if those who commission and set the schedules didn't travel by train themselves, at least not internationally. In considering how tiny most European countries are, it's frankly bizarre.

There are so many destinations one could travel by train to, yet in practice, it's not sensible. A disgrace.

The upside is that it can be fixed.

#trains #EuroRail

lavergnetho ,
@lavergnetho@fediscience.org avatar

@albertcardona We (2 adults and 3 kids) are French from but live in Norway. This summer, for the first time, we will travel by train only. This involves day trains, a sleeper train, and several nights at hotels.

But yes, all you write: expensive, little guarantee at connections, no unified ticketing...

On that particular track, the Ray Barretto Orchestra was playing, and Salvador Cuevas was with the orchestra around that time.

@phil_browne Noted and boosted!

Does the model in have multiple layers (e.g. of snow) so that layered snow-depth or temperature can be a thing? And does it have several thickness categories or one?

In general, it could maybe be good to have output variables that cover the seven Sea Ice products: https://gcos.wmo.int/en/essential-climate-variables/sea-ice

lavergnetho ,
@lavergnetho@fediscience.org avatar

@phil_browne Happy to discuss sea-ice age (offline). Maybe age categories can still be informative?

Temperature in the snow layers would be usefull to compare against IR or PMW temps.

Are there melt-pond variables? (Sorry for asking only about "difficult" variables ;) )

Hello @copernicus_org, I am curious about the ESSD "LD" (Living Data) publication process.

https://www.earth-system-science-data.net/living_data_process.html

Are there examples of such "LD" papers already that you could point me to?
@ESSD_journal @mankoff

lavergnetho OP ,
@lavergnetho@fediscience.org avatar

Thanks @mankoff.

Specifically, we are thinking of producing an extension (3-4 more years) to the @osi_saf sea-ice drift #ClimateData Record published in #ESSD as https://doi.org/10.5194/essd-15-5807-2023.

Same processing chain, (almost) same input data. The extension data would have own #doi. And we would of course run a validation against buoy data.

My question: does this fall into the ESSD LD category, or is it not even worth a paper? We would probably not invest in a whole new paper.

@ESSD_journal

lavergnetho OP ,
@lavergnetho@fediscience.org avatar

@mankoff @osi_saf @ESSD_journal

Thanks. On the other hand, these are 4 additional years of satellite data, and how they validate. Can be of interest to a user / reader.

I would also usually not write a new paper (too much work), but the question was if ESSD LD was facilitating exactly that type of dataset update.
