Why do posters say that increase in Linux Steam share doesnt count becuase its mostly steam deck users?

It's not the gotcha that they think it is. Increasing share of Linux, steam deck or not is progress. Any development or considerations made for the SteamDeck and its Arch based OS benefit the non SteamDeck Linux gaming scene too....

It’s a bell curve. Believe me, after spending my entire work day doing Linux shit as a SRE/Devop/cloud engineer over the last 12 years of my career, the absolute last fucking thing I want to do when I stop working is fiddle with one more goddamn Linux issue before launching a game. True elites don’t give a fuck and just want to play the damn game. You can spot a poser the second they take it too seriously and bitch you out for running vanilla mint or whatever

It in incentivizes lowering speed limits below what the actual reasonable speed is for an area to increase profits. There are literally speed trap towns where their largest revenue stream comes from their speed traps.

SHED ON MY OWN LAND. DIRECTLY NEXT TO MY NEIGHBORS LOT DIRECTLY AGAINST THE PROPERTY LINE AND FENCE AND THEIR GARAGE. THE SHED WILL BE FILLED WITH FLAMMABLE CHEMICALS LIKE GASOLINE AND ILL RUN MY OWN EXTENSION LINES TO IT AND BECAUSE I BUILT IT MYSELF THE ROOF WILL LEAK

Sorry I live in Boston and libertarians move here from farm land where houses are acres away from eachother and get all pissy they can’t cram their shed in the 4’ gap between their house and the one next to it. We’re constantly 1-2 libertarians away from a block wide fire consuming a dozen houses

If the function is known by all parties then the last person to send still has control

Run docker within lxc within proxmox. This gave me an aneurism. You’ve lost the whole point of not actually virtualizing with containers by putting in two layers deep in virtualization. At this point your shit is so convoluted why don’t you just run kubernetes

fishpen0 ,

I was suggesting to do neither and run the container directly. Putting k8s on top of lxc is still completely stupid. Just run k8s bare metal to operate your containers.

I think they meant stuff like pre workout mixes and post workout mixes. Hyper processed proteins, BCAAs, Caffiene, Beta Alanine, argenine, creatine, taurine, etc… followed by a chaser of a dozen or so pills like ZMA. Then of course the HGH, T, Sermorelin, Ipamorelin, & CJC-1295.

Aside from the wealthiest, body builders generally destroy their hearts and bodies filling them up with dozens of cheap suspect supplements that don’t have solid lab testing. And they are always pushing new frontiers on shady pseudoscience to get a fresh edge with whatever side effects that has on longevity.

Arnold got out before that part of the scene got super out of control. But even with him, you can see it in the way his forehead and gut shape have changed over time. The very clear signs he’s juiced, just probably under a lot more perfect control from medical professionals due to his wealth.

Hey dummy, state and federal standardized tests results do not get used by colleges or universities as part of admissions. Only SAT, ACT, LSAT, CLT, etc… are accepted by most universities, all of which are not part of the mandatory standardized tests for schools to perform.

When my city raised property taxes, rents went up across the board.

I’m a software engineer and have had multiple startup employers not provide a 401k. It’s actually much more common than you think to not have one at all. Only 56% of employers have a 401k.

It’s even more common to have no matching. Of the 56% that have a 401k only 50% have any matching at all. This leaves less than 25% of employers with matching.

Of my 3 employers who did not have a 401k they all compensated me in mostly equity. Only a single employer had their equity eventually pay out in some form and it’s not eligible to be put in retirement funds outside of the standard IRA which maxes out significantly less than that 401k

Still no talk of parent plus loans getting fixed :/

Are there any online or in-person communities dedicated to minimizing the influence advertising has on its members? Do you know any strategies to minimize this effect on you?

Is there a lemmy community, for example, where people discuss shopping strategies which minimize the risk of the purchase decision being influenced by Brand Image or Flashy Packaging? Or similar topics....

fishpen0 ,

The unfortunate reality is that these communities are big enough now that advertisers are aware of them. They are full of sock puppets and have become guerrilla advertising platforms and you have to really read through them more carefully than in the past

ADHD and Autism are thought to be linked to the behaviors that herding breeds specifically exhibit. We may have accidentally bred these traits into them as the side effect behaviors of the disorders were the intended outcome for the breeds. A dog hyper focused on a single task, ignoring social queues and social distraction, but that is highly observant and never visually focused on a single thing so they quickly spot predators and dangerous situations for their job. Herding dogs hate eye contact, tend to be less pack social, and suffer from anxiety at alarming rates.

Very very interestingly herding dogs are also recommended companions for humans with autism

The in-n-out system. Most of their meat comes from their own farms and processing facilities.

This is also why they’ve expanded incredibly slowly compared to most fast food chains

The Boston Public Library’s central location even serves wine and beer and has areas where talking is allowed

The hours have never recovered post covid though. It’s only open till 8 these days and the food and drinks closes earlier

Used to be I’d chill there till midnight

You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me. We just bought our first home last year and found out then that the tax credits I grew up hearing about ended several years ago and now it’s back now that I’m no longer qualified :|

Meh. Whenever my warranty is about to expire I just ride the resale value and upgrade knowing I’ll sell the old one for a hundred bucks less than I paid for it and get a new warranty for the new phone. I get a new phone every two years for basically $200 and someone else buys my used one probably doing the same thing and selling their old one for $100 less than that.

Over a decade I’ve spent one new phone’s worth of dollars for 5 phones.

Seconding the other comment, lots of orgs picked .lan and then over the last few years have moved things into the cloud and .lan has become a meaningless soup since half the shit isn’t even on local network. Now it just means “needs a vpn or ztn to talk to”

Luckily my last three orgs finally bought a second domain for private dns. It’s quickly becoming a pattern that myorg.com owns myorg.tech or whatever for private traffic. Domains are cheap as fuck compared to everything else a business spends money on, it’s really silly how many people are using hacks for this

fishpen0 ,

When we wrote malware in labs in college one of the first places we looked was unemptied trash. This is almost certainly a pattern that’s going to leave your crap in trash in plaintext and even the dumbest script kiddie will find it the very first time you slip and something gets in your system.
