I’m starting to realize that Mastodon may have ruined other social media for me. Just deleted Reddit - even the (relatively) low levels of dbags and other annoyances there are just more than I need in my life anymore.

Why put up with all the illiteracy, infantilism, and general idiocy when I can just enjoy myself and learn things on the Fediverse?

‘When the Dali cargo ship demolished that bridge support on Tuesday. it also obliterated all the ridiculous lies and myths our demagogues have been spreading around immigration. There were no sex traffickers aboard the Key Bridge that night. Nobody was dealing fentanyl. They ‘were not “animals,” but fathers and husbands like Suazo and Luna, ‘whose wife occasionally showed up in her food truck to bring the men tacos and pupusas. They were filling potholes so their children could have an even better life. These six workers who perished were not “poisoning the blood of our country,” they were replenishing it. This is a moment of clarity when we need to reject the national disease of xenophobia and restore our faith in the United States as a beacon for the best people like Maynor Suazo. They may have been born all over the continent, but when these men plunged into our waters on Tuesday. they died as Americans.

    & Trump may well have been referring to a “bloodbath” in that industry. He’s sufficiently incoherent that, as is so often the case with him, it’s hard to tell one way other what exactly he’s talking about at any given moment. I’'m willing to assume for the sake of argument that he was referring to cars. And it makes no difference to his malicious intent or to the danger he and his rhetoric poses. What matters is that he consistently uses apocalyptic and violent language in an indiscriminate fashion as a result of his psychopathy and correlative authoritarian tendencies, and because he’s just plain evil.     @pbump @lisamelton Unless she immediately provides airtight proof of election rigging, I have lost all respect for Katie Porter and think she should be removed from Congress immediately. We need to have zero tolerance for this “rigged election” bullshit going forward. We’ve had enough, and it’s time to hold elected reps to the highest standards instead of the lowest.

    @parismarx @FeralRobots What does “loss of all benefits” mean? The article didn’t discuss this. Does that mean something like free healthcare, unemployment benefits, and/or UBI? Or does it mean something else? I don’t dispute the rest of the article - it’s a decent quick overview of the tech sector’s fascist tendencies - but not sure demanding unemployed youth work a job to receive benefits is unique to fascists. Is that why the authors skipped over the benefits?
