Some casual observations about our local 'family friendly' pride.

-There were more straight people at this event than LGBTQ people (by a lot)
-There were more activities for children then LGBTQ people.
-There were very few gay men in attendance
-there was not one public display of affection between LGBTQ people and we would not have felt comfortable or safe doing so.

'Family friendly' pride is just a glass closet straight people want to put us in.

No thanks.

@DemocracyMattersALot Absolutely. We felt less safe being affectionate there then at the local grocery store.

UK: Devon's first transgender mayor appointed

'At the age of 73 years old, Rachel Clarke is proud to call herself the first transgender mayor in the westcountry and only the second in the UK'

'I knew from the age of three something wasn't right. I was stuck in a man's body but how could I explain that to anyone? Like a lot of men of my generation, I did the whole thing of getting married and had four daughters and now have eight grandchildren'

Sometimes, I contemplate ways that I can use my pottery skills/making to give back to people in need or causes I care about.
I have trouble wrapping my mind around any of the administrative components.
Basically, I'd like to give a piece or two away every month or so to someone whose day it might brighten, but then I start thinking about practicalities like postage costs...
If anyone has ideas or suggestions, please feel free to comment. I may not reply beyond a fave, as I'm not feeling great.

Guess who is now half a century old?

It took me till my early 40s to find my true passion of creating pottery and making art from clay. I'm always feeling like I am late to my calling and trying to play catch up.

If you have an interest in art or pottery and like the work you see below, consider helping to support this older person's dreams and follow along to be a part of my pottery journey. And remember, it's never too late to chase your dream

An accidental tea bowl.

This tea bowl was originally fired in a conventional glaze firing, but I was not happy with those results.

When I was first starting raku, I thought I'd add some raku glazes to it, and re-fire it in a raku firing. Even though it is not food safe, it's become one of my cherished pieces of self made pottery.

If you like art/pottery and want to see more, please follow my pottery journey here!
