they even staged non-violent interactions

lmao, that's pretty good. probably there is some fash out there thinking the event was a 12 day sidewalk-to-sidewalk street brawl, therefor any pic of people just standing around not yelling or bleeding is inauthentic.

the Game of Thrones show's last 2 seasons (the ones not based on any published books) was so bad, it make people retroactively hate the entire series and the entire intellectual property lol

Can I refuse MS Authenticator?

So my company decided to migrate office suite and email etc to Microsoft365. Whatever. But for 2FA login they decided to disable the option to choose "any authenticator" and force Microsoft Authenticator on the (private) phones of both employees and volunteers. Is there any valid reason why they would do this, like it's...

I know Google has a way to "force" you to only use their app, and that's strictly enforced for personal MFAs (I haven't verified that recently), I didn't have that kind of trouble not using the MS one, but I'm not sure my org was as strict as yours on that "force MS" option.

My startup doesn't have a dress code, so what I wear is about the half-way point between business casual/thrift shop and homeless/grunge. Boots or wedges, dyed hair, septum, occasionally a graphic tee. I like colorful shit. The least complicated/unflattering/whorish dress I can find, whatever least likely to snitch on me for weight gain.

It's simple to label a government as "authoritarian" just because they have things called "laws" that prevent you from exploiting their people. Likewise, it's convenient to repeatedly tell your citizens that distant, non-English-speaking countries are "authoritarian." The truth is, for every Westerner who can afford to travel and verify these claims, a million others will just accept what the media tells them. They'll even go on to reinforce these narratives, despite having no firsthand experience or direct connection to these places.

These countries were previously communist and (of that has that) have pretty much only improved since transitioning to democracy with capitalist economic systems:

Would you teach your kids how to pirate?

My gf and I have had discussions about teaching morals to kids. In that vein, I asked myself, would I teach piracy to my kids? Yes, it’s technically illegal and carries inherent risks. But so does teenage sex carry the risks of teenage pregnancy, and so we have an obligation to children to teach them how to practice safe sex....

I don't think anything particularly interesting will happen except an admin will notice and the slam the unfederate button.

When / why / how did "I hope you are well" become a standard email intro?

Practically every email I've received in maybe the past year has started with "I hope you are well". I even had an LLM draft a placeholder email for me and it started with the same thing. This has not always been the case and it's strange to me that everyone I interact with begins their emails with this line. Frankly, it's...

no way, full backs feel like you're wearing a diaper and you still get wedgies anyways, so why not have a tinier more environmentally friendly wedgy and no panty lines?

if you're actually having the specific problem mentioned in the title, just size up. try plain ones instead of weird fancy ones.

Does the app let you change the playback speed to something rational like 0.9x, 1.1x, 1.2x, 1.3x? I've almost never found a video where 1.25x was the optimal listening speed. YT's default playback speeds are shit for accessibility.

I think you could make a credible argument that some of the Harry Potter books are worse than the movies. The best example that comes to mind is making fun of Hermione for wanting to free slaves, and the other characters claiming being slaves is in their nature or something. If you had only watched the movies instead, you'd get to see the slaves are miserable, most of the good team characters don't own slaves, and Harry Potter tricks a slave owner into freeing their slave.

The "obliterated" is decades of safety research into how to make the vehicle itself absorb the impact, reducing the forces applied to the people inside.

I have no idea what cybertruck does for safety, but I'm sure somebody was looking into it.

Also I don't want to follow randos who sometimes post about cool things, sometimes post the $50 hamburger they ate, and sometimes post unfiltered rampant misogyny, I want to follow cool ideas and topics directly.
