The idea of taking a complicated system and boiling it down to an essential value (or set of values) that describe everything is high-key fascism. It's fine to simplify a system to better understand it, but the moment you start saying these abstractions have any kind of predictive capability outside their original contexts, that's when you start getting into the eugenics shit.

My experience of using AI: Creating something from the bottom of my heart and putting in hours of fighting against its default weights to get it barely presentable, then spending even more time to fix all the imperfections to the point I may as well have just done it myself, only to have everyone I show it to freak out at me for using AI and assume that I'm falling to the technocapitalist dork side. Like I was bored and wanted to fuck around with the latest thing, i'm not going to all of a sudden start firing my whole staff or shilling for cryptocurrency. I don't even see it as a tool, it's a toy, and not a very good one at that. Maybe good for a novelty but it wears off extremely fast.

Sometimes I feel like if I do so I'm basically serving as an ad, and I don't really care for that, especially if later I find that the business was scummy in some ways (which is often the case, especially later as it changes leadership/ownership)....

Easy fix is to talk about your experiences rather than the product itself. If you can see yourself holding a can of non-descript product and smiling at a camera while saying the line, rewrite it. If you can imagine yourself telling your friend about it without them trying to escape, perfect.

If you want to see an example of how the federation fails smaller communities look no further than almost every comment section in c/vegan is full of people who are vocally and vehemently against it. There's just nothing to stop dominant culture from flushing out the others.

The algorithm is great for serendipity but absolutely useless at protecting the more niche subjects from the most annoying comments.

Reddit has the worst most awful userbase (it was literally created to be a hangout for pedo-nazis) but has the benefit of normal people diluting the toxic shitheads, so as long as the moderators aren't actively suppressing a community they tend to be pretty normal on average.

Only problem is that it's nearly impossible to find a subreddit that isn't suppressed to shit by both the mods and astroturf bots.
