I work in web and app development company and we don't check Firefox anymore, because it's the only outlier and has not many users. But mainly because we wouldn't have to do it for any other browser specifically and Firefox is not special in any way. The errors come from it being more strict, which might sound good, but it's actually really just inconvenient.
The errors go from image alignment issues to apps not working at all. We don't fix any of that.

I don't think that's going to happen. Israel gets it's "mystique" from the fact it is surrounded by enemies and any strategic mistake can mean it's destruction. Also sure, this horrible mass murder and genocide they are committing is just beyond savage and utterly inexcusable, but I don't think any serious journalist could say they were not capable of it before the hamas attack. They have literally been doing it for more than half a century.
This will not be their downfall, this is what they are and always have been.

Putin offers truce if Ukraine exits Russian-claimed areas and drops NATO bid. Kyiv rejects it ( apnews.com )

Russian President Vladimir Putin promised Friday to “immediately” order a cease-fire in Ukraine and start negotiations if Kyiv began withdrawing troops from the four regions annexed by Moscow in 2022 and renounced plans to join NATO. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected what he called an ultimatum by Putin to...

NoiseColor ,

This was addressed to Russians.

NoiseColor ,

This is not close at all though. This can convince no one that isn't already 100% on their side.

NoiseColor ,

The isn't that much Tom Cruise in it and the part where he is, is fantastic.

Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas out of Olympics after losing legal battle ( www.theguardian.com )

The US swimmer Lia Thomas, who rose to global prominence after becoming the first transgender athlete to win a NCAA college title in March 2022, has lost a legal case against World Aquatics at the court of arbitration for sport – and with it any hopes of making next month’s Paris Olympics....

NoiseColor ,

Trans people can still enjoy sports and compete on other levels as well as be a part of it in many other ways. Competing in sports for sure isn't a healthy path to gender selfactualization. Not only because of the public resistance to change in established categories.

I don't believe any news that start with Chinese develop / invent. I can't remember a case when this would turn out to be true.

NoiseColor ,

I'm sorry my life experience insults you.

I'm sure Chinese scientists manage to develop a lot of things, but usually the bombastic articles like this one turn out to be false. In my subjective experience they turn out to be bs.

The could be many reasons for that and I don't care to think about that, because I have shared my experience, if you have some best insight into that, you are welcome to share, unless it's as dumb and dull as to call me racist.

NoiseColor ,

Buckwheat is da bomb!!!
We have 4 in the bed and they are amazing.

NoiseColor ,

One less weapon for the invading army, whats not bad about that?

NoiseColor ,

Best not to take anything from Russel brand too seriously.

Ai on the computer will change the way we use computers. This function is just one of many that will make it happen. It's going to be awesome.

NoiseColor ,

I know Linux is big on lemmy and I adore Linux, I use it on my home server and laptop. But the way of the world is ai. For 30 years I have been imagining having a computer that will be able to predict what I want and we are well on our way to that exact place.
It's prudent to mind potential security weaknesses, but dismissing it so quickly as some people do is just as dumb as it gets.

Opinion Piece On AI that I Agree With ( copyright.nova.edu )

I agree that the "fruits" of neural networks come from the proletarian artist, because without them, there cannot be any content made of this magnitude. The stunning images created by AI inherently rely on the labor of artists, so its commodity-value---its visual appeal---is thus identical to the labor-value that was scraped...

NoiseColor ,

I couldn't disagree more!
We dont need new music? We don't need new content? That's absurd. What kind of naive opinion is that? Ai gives a person unprecedented power to create. That's fantastic!

Something else is the copyright issue. I don't know how to address that, but generally my idea of copyright is a bit different anyway. In any case the cat is out of the bag so the direction should be open source models.

NoiseColor ,

Nuclear probably isn't. It could be, but it doesn't look like its going to be.

NoiseColor ,

Cruz didn't mind. Most Republicans wouldn't either.

NoiseColor ,

People don't know how TV works and we are hardly gonna tell people not to use it.

As long as people are aware that some responses might be made up it should be fine for anyone to use it.

NoiseColor ,

Ai know things. They are a collection of knowledge. Not everything they respond with is made up.

NoiseColor ,

Not to be contraversial, but likely chatgpt would be the most benign conversation a 16 year old will have in a day. 16 year old! Thats a crazy age.

The public models are so neutered today that basically all they put out is happy shiny good thoughts information.

NoiseColor ,

Well obviously it doesn't "know" know, it's not alive.

We are all generating the most likely answer from the training data. But going back to the original question : what do you fear chatgpt would say that would be detrimental to a 16 year old?

NoiseColor ,

100b will buy you nothing. That's like a tenth of Us military budget.

NoiseColor ,

Where did you get that number. It's obviously wrong.

NoiseColor ,

Well you should know that Russia produces 100 of ships like these a year. And it wasn't really that damaged and it was going for a refit anyway.

NoiseColor ,

It was a joke, a collection of usual responses from russian propagandists. It couldn't go for a refit if it sunk... And the numbers have to be laughably high otherwise you could be prosecuted or suicided.

Joe Biden’s disapproval rating reaches new high, according to new poll ( www.theguardian.com )

The survey found that just one in four voters (24%) think the country is moving in the right direction – a key question in the run-up to a national election – and more than twice as many voters said that Biden’s policies had personally hurt them than those who said they had helped....

NoiseColor ,

Its more likely it's the patriot or updated s200.

NoiseColor ,

Yes, I'm just surprised they still have those. They are really in a bad shape right now and these few downed airplanes don't mean much.

NoiseColor ,

A lot of hopium. Same stuff we heard since the start of the war. First it was food, then equipment, then shells, troops, missiles,... And looking at the the Russian army today it's fed, well equipped, as many shells as they need, new drones, missiles in production, planes in production. Not to mention new motivation as they see the west faltering in their resolve to help Ukraine.
Russia is in war economy, unfortunately it's not running out of anything anytime soon. They are not that stupid and will adapt if the losses become unmanageable.

NoiseColor ,

So victory in a few weeks? Nice!

NoiseColor ,

I'm not ignoring these legit military successes, I'm saying that we can't expect them to continue until Russia is out of planes.

The fact that Ukraine has stood up to Russia for so long means nothing if they lose in the end. And right now Ukraine is losing. It's losing lives and land and its only losing because we in the west didnt and still don't fulfill our promises and our obligations and our leaders pussy foot around what weapons to send.

NoiseColor ,

How about the fact that it's 14 years old now, has an approved ETF and is more stable than many stocks?

Let it go. You can go on hating without trying to rationalize it. It's perfectly acceptable.

NoiseColor ,

But then almost every business covers these two arguments?

I won't and don't want to convince anyone into bitcoin, but these cringe emotional arguments are just so... cringe. I get it, ten years ago they were kind of funny I guess. Now it's just old. Like old drunk people at the bar repeating the same story over and over again.

NoiseColor ,

Yes that's true. I the end it's only a tank. It will be destroyed by even old tech.

NoiseColor ,

Russia has better allies.

NoiseColor ,

Yeah well, they send stuff. Ours talk talk talk, maybe even promise 30 year old tech, then fail, or send enough for one week. While people die.

NoiseColor ,

I always thought that scifi time stories were lazy scifi. In scifi shows they put them in when they get out of ideas. It's dumb.

NoiseColor ,

Excellent response! Like a true tankie, devoid of all reason, spectacular fallacies, self victimizaton... Brilliant!
I want to hear more!

Tell me some sweet sweet songs about stalin, putin and pol pot!

NoiseColor ,

Al jazeera is one of the most credible and reliable news agencies in the world. It's nothing like rt or China daily and certainly better than anything US has. But obviously one should not go to al jazeera for news about the middle east.

NoiseColor ,

That's an oversimplification to the point that it is wrong.
Nuclear power is not the only form of clean energy like that at all. It can not be scaled in this situation to save us, because it takes too long to build them.

NoiseColor ,

If we had started, but we didn't.

It is not the only source like that at all. It is way easier, cheaper, faster and sustainable to build windmills where the is constant wind, solar cells where there is a lot of sun, hydro where there is... Energy sources should be built depending on the locality so they complement each other.

This kind of talking in absolutes like some of you are doing is just plain wrong and it does disservice to advocacy for nuclear power.

NoiseColor ,

I don't understand why people are so enraged. I do understand actually : you all love the drama. It's great, plus you can act offended and make it personal. Some of you look like you are on some personal mission with pitchfork in one hand and a big justice boner in the other. Chill. They are a big private company is not connected to you, they haven't done anything to you directly. Or did they make you buy a cpu that is actually just a tad slower? Come on.
