I find all the party members insufferable. I change their classes almost immediately for better synergy or I switch them out for the soulless NPC's Withers has. Ironically, I've been D&D 5E Dungeon Master numerous times and I find the party members to be absolutely authentic characters real people would play. Good work Larian, ya made the characters so table top believable that I want to find a new group to play with.

Oh they're great characters and well written. I just don't like them though. I can't justify my tastes.

Scrolling through "New" since I'm an information junkie.

What song should I play for my bathroom neighbors?

The work bathroom is currently a warzone, on their phone speakers people like to play music, play games at full blast, and one guy likes to chill to ambient rainforest. What song can I play to passive aggressively make it known that I don't want to listen to their tik tok feeds while I work out my demons?

Hey I've definitely been in your place before. What got me learning coding skills was motivation for a career change, a platform that worked for me (Udemy), and accepting my failed attempts. Small bursts of motivation are more than what most people have. Utilizing them when they come on are opportunities to get a lot done in short periods of time. Don't dedicate yourself to paths that don't appeal to you, half the fun is figuring out what kind things make you tick.

As far as wanting to be dead, existentialism is always a painful bitch. Reading Marcus Aurelius' Meditations helped me alot. It doesn't take away pain, but can help cultivate core reasons for one's actions. That helps with existing, at least for me.

Don't beat yourself up.

Chances are low I'll do that, I paint for myself. I like painting models since it is analog and I work on a computer all day. It's an activity that I do for my own benefit thus I'm reluctant to share with the public for fear of losing that feeling of self fulfillment. I'm also a far better painter than a photographer.

Edit: Your genestealers are coming along nicely.

Technically I would say the harnessing and utilization of fire. It arguably changed our evolution requiring less energy to digest food.

I was born in Texas and spent my first 35 years there. It's not like the movies, because life isn't like the movies. I was completely miserable and honestly regret being born due to my life in Texas. Very little help from the government, my schooling was inadequate, and I was exploited by employers multiple times without repercussions. Bad places do make for good people so my dearest friends looked out for me and I them. I'm very glad I moved up North to the Eastern seaboard where there is infrastructure and the average person is a bit less on edge.

Hey good see ya again. Unfortunately I wasn't lucky. I'll let my friends know.

I'm CIS white dude who is rapidly approaching 40, the show is not made for me. When the pilot came out I watched it and I was rooting for the production crew; even watching some of the animatics the production crew made while podcasting.

The contents of what I've seen from watching the pilot and a little bit of the full series isn't intended for me. The struggles the characters are going through are hard for me to relate to. I'm also never a fan of Abrahamic religious framing, I find it banal. I wish the production crew the best, but I have no intention of watching more than what I've seen.

I'm going to lean towards I'm too old and crotchety. I became an old man when I was young.

The new class war: A wealth gap between millennials ( www.cnbc.com )

There may be another factor creating so much wealth among millennials: inheritances. In what’s known as “the great wealth transfer,” baby boomers are expected to pass down between $70 trillion and $90 trillion in wealth over the next 20 years. Much of that is expected to go to their millennial children. High-net-worth...

MisterNeon ,
@MisterNeon@lemmy.world avatar

Really? I've considered myself an old man when I hit 35. I'm almost 40 now and I still feel old as hell.

MisterNeon ,
@MisterNeon@lemmy.world avatar

No. The problem with science is that in part it relies on trial and error. That could get messy on a societal level. We should utilize observation with scientific methods to inform our decisions. Unfortunately a lot of people don't do that currently and scientific data results can also be manipulated to fulfill an agenda.

MisterNeon ,
@MisterNeon@lemmy.world avatar

Well in your scenario who will implement this? Furthermore, what is the goal that you're trying to engineer with a science based government?
Is it personal happiness, population numbers, the production of capital, or to indoctrinate the masses to serve the state? Are you going to justify the use of eugenics? What happens when goals conflict or individuals don't want to participate in experiments? What if the science you're implementing has different philosophies or different schools of thought? How do you determine what is the optimal method?

‘An epidemic of loneliness’: How the pandemic changed life for aging adults ( www.colorado.edu )

Years after the U.S. began to slowly emerge from mandatory COVID-19 lockdowns, more than half of older adults still spend more time at home and less time socializing in public spaces than they did pre-pandemic, according to new CU Boulder research. ...

7000 doesn't sound like a large enough sample size to get accurate results.

MisterNeon ,
@MisterNeon@lemmy.world avatar

Tens of thousands.

MisterNeon ,
@MisterNeon@lemmy.world avatar

The age of the American population 55+ is over 80,000,000 so 0.0000875% of that population seems small to be drawing conclusions from.

MisterNeon ,
@MisterNeon@lemmy.world avatar

Well I don't generate statistics normally and we're not dealing with something as reliable as dice roles. I stated the sample size "sounds" small and got downvoted into a pit. I'm going to remain skeptical about this research.
