He didn't champion anything, so Congress didn't give him any bills to sign that he wanted.

They want to get reelected. They know they have to do what the Almighty Orange One says for that to happen. I'm really hoping the Democrats actually take off the gloves for this election and call the Republicans the insurrection party. Then they have to show America that one party is fully responsible and that one party has been blocking the investigation into the insurrection.

Show the Jan 6 footage. Get an emotional response. Make the Republican voters feel like shit for allowing that to happen.

Story time:

Years ago, I interned with the local sheriff's office. I spent most of my time there with the warrant team. They went out and arrested people with outstanding warrants. In doing so, I learned that after sentencing the convicted person voluntarily report to prison. They had to process a number of people who were sentenced to prison but never reported.

I, like you, expected people to be transferred from court to prison after sentencing. That was a shocking revelation for me.

If they cap the rate the house can be assessed for at 3% growth per year, they won't have enough money to keep the state running if the actual rate of inflation is consistently around 5%.

Generally, the state is the biggest employer in any given state. If they don't have the money to give it raises that match the rate of inflation, the state employees have less purchasing power than they did a year ago.

Any social programs would have that same obstacle.

This is treating a symptom, and it's going to have repercussions.

Each state taxes differently. I'm not familiar with Georgia's specifics. I live in MN. School funding is done via property tax and supplemented with a per student amount from the state. If the property tax is capped to 3% a year, if property tax is the primary funding for schools, teacher raises would be have to be capped to 3% a year.

New developments or places with higher turnover (tax assessed value resets when the house is sold) could be able to pay significantly more for teachers than older stable neighborhoods. That excentuates the suburban flight.

From a moral point, don't do that. From a legal point, stay out of the bedroom.

I'll also add context of this is a very Western belief. Natives of America prevented inbreeding by not marrying within the clan. Your first cousins could be in a different clan and therefore open for marriage.

The article talked a lot about school buses in rural areas. Mass Transit isn't a thing in most rural areas.

In urban cities, yes that's a feasible idea. Most people in the USA live in places where mass transit isn't feasible.

We are a nation of car drivers who bought into the dream of having a house on a large lot in the suburbs. Mass Transit exists, but in the burb it's generally a parking lot where you take a bus to your job downtown.

The USA spends a lot of money on military. Why, that's a very nuanced question with a lot of answers. Since it's the reasons are:

Fear mongering

Politicians Funneling money to give their constituents jobs.

Republicans perpetually want to spend more. Democrats can't cut the budget.

Maintaining global influence
