@McWabbit @flexghost same. I’m off to bed soon so won’t be watching- but just looking at and listening to Trump makes me ragey. He does this nasal breathing thing that makes me 🤢

The 1918 Influenza Pandemic and the Rise of Italian Fascism: A Cross-City Quantitative and Historical Text Qualitative Analysis Evidence linking past experiences of worsening health with support for radical political views has generated concerns about the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The influenza pandemic that began in 1918 had a devastating health impact: 4.1 million Italians contracted influenza and about 500 000 died. We tested the hypothesis that deaths from the 1918 influenza pandemic contributed to the rise of Fascism in Italy. To provide a “thicker” interpretation of these patterns, we applied historical text mining to the newspaper Il Popolo d’Italia (Mussolini’s newspaper). Our observations were consistent with evidence from other contexts that worsening mortality rates can fuel radical politics. Unequal impacts of pandemics may contribute to political polarization.

    I'm officially worried that Rahimi is taking so long. I feel like if we were gonna win that one, and keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, it would have been ready already.

    Chevron is taking a long time because we're definitely losing that one and, I imagine, Roberts is writing that while Neil shouts "MORE, MORE" like Kylo Ren in Last Jedi.

    @GottaLaff just listening to Pod Save America. Jon Favreau “I interviewed Liz Cheney on the Pod and she was like, ‘I'm not worried about a right-wing Supreme Court majority, I'm worried that Donald Trump will say, why would I listen to the court? Why would I listen to any of the courts? Who's gonna make? With whose army” - does SCOTUS not realise this is a very real possibility??

    If they won’t serve Trump’s will over all else, they’re immediately disqualified.

    Father's Day is coming up and my advice for gift giving is: BINOCULARS. And I'm not kidding at all. Versions available for every budget and everybody loves them. Concerts, stargazing, lying in the grass and looking at bugs. I've bought them for people aged 3 to 89 and they were always a hit 🙂

    That is are there certain topics, habits, actions etc. that instantly decrease your trust in a person you might have otherwise listened to on a podcast, article, or video?

    Most Americans see as a time to pay tribute to the US service members who gave their lives for their country, or perhaps fire up the BBQ w/friends & family to celebrate the unofficial start of summer, or maybe save some money on a new mattress. Acc/to Google, a lot of Americans also make a point to look up what the “Memorial Day meaning” is. Then there’s Donald .
