Organic is always more expensive, but vegan can be done dirt cheap

"What's the deal with me being booed for supporting child murder?"

Looks nice but probably too many details to work at smaller sizes. A single large leaf instead of the whole leafy stem would convey the same visual concept.

So in order to get a refund, Walmart wants the customer to hold on to a gloppy mess, and then have them personally travel to a store to bring the glop into a brick n mortar location, for a product that they paid to have Walmart deliver to their house, all just for walmart to refund the customer a measly 8 dollars back, for a fuck up that was all Walmart's fault?

That's insanity.

In all the other grocery delivery services, when a customer calls in to report that an item is missing or damaged then the company simply refunds the customer for that item, no questions asked. Which is obviously the correct way to do things.

This person was NOT being unreasonable. If you were the customer service person in this conversation then i would double check that you're actually following Walmart's procedures for damaged inexpensive food items.

LanternEverywhere ,

Absolutely! More recent memories are much easier to recall. In the hours leading up to the test you should be again reviewing the material. Exactly like you said, there have been many times when i got an answer right instead of wrong purely because i had just re-read that info again a few minutes before the test. This is especially true for a test that requires a lot of memorization.

Bike ride outdoors. Stationary bike doesn't boost mood for me, only actually biking through space does it.

LanternEverywhere ,

Ooo that's a great one! Helping someone else makes me feel good basically 100% of the times i do it. And it doesn't even have to be a major help, or even a moderate help, just helping someone in a minor way gives me a good feeling.

LanternEverywhere ,

(Not an insult) i assume you're autistic or have some autistic traits, so maybe people in the autism forums could help too.

Generally you can look at anything and everything you want to look at, but just don't do it for more than a few seconds in a row.

Like for example if there's two of you at a table and you're having a conservation then it would go something like this. look in you tablemate's eyes for 3-5 seconds, then look at your plate for a few seconds while you're using your utensils on your food, then look in your tablemate's eyes for another 3-5 seconds, then look at the wall decor for a few seconds, then back at your tablemate's eyes for a few seconds, then back on your plate to look at what you're eating for a few seconds, then back to your tablemate's eyes again for a few seconds. Now that i talk it out, i think it's right for about every other look to be at your tablemate's eyes.

Basically it's the same as any situation where you're having a conversation with someone. Look at their eyes for a few seconds, then look at something else for a couple seconds, then look back at their eyes again for a few seconds.

LanternEverywhere ,

Most people don't consciously think about these things very often at all. Generally there's only a very occasional sudden realization that you've been starting at a person's eyes for a bit too long and so look away for a moment. But really this is only a very very occasional thing. We almost never consciously think "ok where should i point my eyes now?"

Or at least that's how it is for me. I guess I'm assuming that's how it is for most people too.

LanternEverywhere ,

Dude you just aren't discerning enough to be able to appreciate the complexities and subtleties of a truly artistic song like that

LanternEverywhere ,

Holy fucking shit literally laughing out loud over here!!!

LanternEverywhere ,

THE /S IS ALWAYS NECESSARY

I don't know how anyone could live through the last decade and not see how important it is to denote when you're being sarcastic. "It ruins the joke" is preferable over it ruins society. Without the S idiots will read what you wrote and think there's people out there who actually support their idiotic ideas

LanternEverywhere ,

Bzzzt. Incorrect

LanternEverywhere , (edited )

Dude you're grasping at straws. I'm sure you think you're a genius, but you're not. You're wrong about this, but nothing anyone says could ever convince you if it.

LanternEverywhere ,

Oh i absolutely boost my own comments because it's bizarre that it isn't done automatically like every other site with voting in existence does. What i don't do is use an alt account to boost it a second time

RATE. Injury rate per person.

The only thing that matters is how many injuries happen per person. That's the whole point. Every company could increase output by sacrificing worker's health, but we as society strongly condemn that because that's truly fucked up.

LanternEverywhere ,

No absofuckinglutely not. That's psychotic and you should feel like garbage for even thinking that. Being ok with more people being hurt and killed just so a company can churn out more product is vile.

LanternEverywhere ,

If space projects can't be done faster without pushing kids into the orphan crushing machine, then it shouldn't be done faster.

LanternEverywhere ,

Ya know what's even worse than that? People who complain about how dumbed down everything is without first even clicking on the article to see if the actual paper is linked to. Which it is.

And fire departments, libraries, public schools, police departments, etc etc etc. Every government service funded by taxes are all socialist. And I'm sure OP doesn't want to eliminate the police, do you OP?

Does any language have a word for mixing a beverage by pouring from one vessel into another?

I don't mean something like "pour" or "mix" in the English language. The word should capture the idea of pouring from one vessel into another with the goal of going from a semi-heterogenous solution to a mostly-homogeneous solution....

Someone left a 4 inch rock rock with a line circle carved in it in the dirt next to my door

What do you guys think was the intention with this? I recently had an episode of mania, and was behaving a bit oddly, but I confirmed with my mother (this was her condo I'm renting it) that it wasn't here when she left and I've never seen it before :|

LanternEverywhere ,

Definitely just a rock. Here's a link where you can see lots of rocks with interesting markings, including a bunch that look like yours but with even more delineated markings.

OP if you're thinking of this as anything other than just a regular rock then I'd suggest maybe getting in touch with your doctor

Why oled only? Modern lcd screens are fantastic. For example look at the OnePlus n30, its lcd screen is super bright, very colorful, has absolutely no PWM, has a refresh rate of 120 hz, has a massive viewing angle range with no change in brightness or color, and is just gorgeous all around.

LanternEverywhere ,

Well for half of that, the spec you actual care about is battery life. The n30 has massive battery life. And for good modern non-curved lcd screens there's never any backlight bleed anywhere. Yes, the blacks aren't fully completely as black, but on a good modern lcd they're very close to it, and in exchange you get all the screen advantages i listed above. Oled always has worse viewing angles, worse color accuracy, worse way of making the screen "dimmer" by using pwm rather than actually making the screen dim, etc.

LanternEverywhere ,

Like, in real time? That's an obvious no. It would be literally torture. Not being able to do anything other than just sitting in the same spot and watching a window for essentially eternity would make you literally insane. What a horror show experience

LanternEverywhere ,

It's fantastic that they did this, but i don't know why they didn't have more greenery. It's like a bunch of potted plants loosely scattered about, which is nice, but IMO would've been a lot better if they really had long stretches of green plant life

Facebook is the 3rd most visited website. Instagram (which is also owned by them) is the 4th most visited site. Oculus is and has been the best selling vr system by a lot. As much as we would like it not to be true, the reality is that facebook is extremely far from death rattling

LanternEverywhere ,

OnePlus makes some great phones in the mid to low price range. I don't know if they're rootable or whatever

LanternEverywhere ,

They hit a sweet spot of having basically everything. Like the n30 has pretty much everything you could want - sd card slot, super fast charger in the box, headphone jack, screen with no pwm, relatively low price, fast cpu, huge 8 gb amount of RAM so apps never need to refresh when you switch back to them, all the antenna bands for the fastest data speed and best reception coverage area, good software with almost no pre-installed bloatware, etc etc. It honestly is just about perfect!

LanternEverywhere ,

It's an android phone, and it does everything perfectly for everything i ever try to do with it

LanternEverywhere ,

Well i can tell you that the hardware is fantastic

Am i missing out on anything other than porn by disabling NSFW on lemmy ?

Like am i missing out on big boy talk, gore, news etc that are adult ? Lemmy should seriously get a second filter like one that filters porn and the other that filters the rest if that is the case . Anyway what do you think ? Should news etc. be put behind nsfw ? I know i am straying far off the primary question but i am just...

LanternEverywhere ,

Nope, it doesn't block user comments. See the linked quote info in other comments on this page

LanternEverywhere ,

What can we do to make you want to snuggle more?

LanternEverywhere ,

Well then it's a good thing that no one ever dies in car accidents! /s

LanternEverywhere ,

He missed seeing it by just a few years. We're clearly in the early stages of it starting to happen for real

The Supreme Court didn't rule whether the law is constitutional, but said that the appeals court didn't follow the right steps

so nothing of substance has been decided here, this is just a procedural step

LanternEverywhere ,

Exactly, a fraction is completely as valid of a way to express a number as using a decimal.

1/2 = 0.5

They're both fully valid ways to write the exact same quantity

LanternEverywhere ,

Main link is broken. Second link works but i don't see anything in the video, just hear a non descript noise

LanternEverywhere ,

Why? Just put a sticker over the logo if you don't want to see it
