Here’s the deal: We stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential.

@Strandjunker I agree ,even when I had no money to heat my home I occasionally bought small luxuries a bag of sweets or a packet of biscuits because the harder life is the more you occasionally need something that makes at least part of the day special

You'll recall a post yesterday about a man whose refusal to help his partner out of a scolding bath led to her death, being given a suspended sentence.... now, here's the other side; for stealing a phone an indefinite custodial sentence....

There's obviously more going on here, but the temptation to say a 's life is worth less than a was to great for me to resist (sorry).... and the point (even if exaggerated) remains!

You’ve probably already heard the very bad — but completely expected — news that we have just completed our first 12-month span with global temperatures more than 1.5°C above the pre-industrial average.

See -- https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-68110310

However, according to the IPCC, this does not mean that the goal of the Paris agreement is in tatters. According to them, 1.5C will have to be exceeded over a span of 20 to 30 years (!) before they will declare the target missed.

Come on, give me a break. Do you think we’re idiots? You expect us to fall for that?

If we continue on with Business As Usual for another 20 years, the planet will heat up even more, probably over 2C if not higher.

It’s time to stop the lying. Stop covering up for capitalism. And stop drilling for more oil and more gas to burn.

@ddmgmgh @Pinchy63 @breadandcircuses .I dont think thats everywhere crofters here have noticed changes in weather and accept climate change, but I think the problem is focusing on global "warming" and not the other weather impacts .here there is a lot more rainfall ,everyone I know has noticed more rain and flooding ,not necessarily affecting villages just more land being flooded so it probably doesnt make the news,Yet our winters are still bitterly cold and we still get deep snowfalls.
