Sensationalism will be the death of us. They sprayed the rocks with corn starch and food dye. But “protestors spray Stonehenge with cornstarch” doesn’t generate the clicks.

Here’s the story in a way you never heard it:

“It’s time for us to think about what our civilisation will leave behind – what is our legacy? Standing inert for generations works well for stones – not climate policy.”

For the sake of our future, the media must do better.

@eb Yeah, the news coverage got it somewhat wrong. However, I also think the protesters need to do a serious strategy re-think. Defacing cultural artifacts is not changing anyone's mind about climate change. Like, maybe go after oil companies instead of heritage sites? That would be harder though, and more dangerous. I'm pretty sure the oil companies LOVE these people. Nothing like having your opposition willingly shoot themselves in the foot repeatedly. 🤦‍♂️

Well, in just the first three months of that fateful year there were reports of a lunar civilization, a royal marriage between one year olds, and a royal death death caused by a Tantic curse. 1620 was indeed a WTF kinda year.

Much of what you need to know to understand the current dysfunction in the US (and other parts of the world too, I'm sure).

"So this bill will protect the Ku Klux Klan to wear masks in public, but someone who's immunocompromised like myself cannot wear a mask?"
    — North Carolina Senator Sydney Batch, who is a cancer survivor

    Unbelievable.

You are permitted to wear an N95 so long as you cover it up with a Klan hood.

Limitarianism The Case Against Extreme Wealth by Ingrid Robeyns

"A powerful case for limitarianism—the idea that we should set a maximum on how much resources one individual can appropriate. A must-read!"
—Thomas Piketty, bestselling author of Capital in the Twenty-First Century
An original, bold, and convincing argument for a cap on wealth by the philosopher who coined the term "limitarianism."

As my old econ prof John Photiades used to say, "Everyone talks about a minimum wage, but no one wants to talk about a maximum wage."
