An incomplete list of inappropriate comments I received from my male colleagues recently:

  • You look furious.
  • You have a quiet voice. A woman from Ukraine in our department also has a quiet voice.
  • You look nervous.
  • You gave me an angry look at the elevator and I didn't dare to discuss a project with you.
  • You are so modest.
  • You don't have to get so confrontational.

They reduce our professional interactions to an imaginary emotional state of mine.

Do men talk like this to each other?

Dear @bookstodon

I would like recommendations for books where the main character is a mild villain dealing with much worse villains and is telling the story as they go. Fantasy and Scifi are always comforting genres but I venture out for the right books.

I would also like books where men and women are doing things and are friends without a romance being shoe-horned in. But I concede I might as well be asking for a pony at this point.

@flexghost I think the most likely option is the DoJ is worried that someone will tell Gaetz what they have on him. Him being a snitch is option 2, and someone at DoJ trying to protect him because (R) is the lowest probability

I just re-read Neuromancer for some reason and... I still don't really get it.

Though I'm not certain it's making any particular statement. The hero mall-ninja. The wasp nest of big money. It's like a bunch of dream images each with their own resonance rattling around in what would be unfair to call 90s pastiche... because to be fair to Mr. Gibson, he invented what was later imitated.

But, yeah. I still don't really get it.

    tesla owners finally complaining about some of the cars' features bc apparently your spouse can watch your car's progress on the app at home and see where you stop. you can even see which seats are being used so "both backseats" suddenly registering on the "heat map" is giving away the cheating lol

    @flexghost Lot of great options from the 70s, I’m going with a true genius, Mr Stevie Wonder. There are at least a half-dozen All Time Great songs to choose from but “Living for the City” has always been my favorite.
