A thing of beauty that fell down the memory hole is that Joe took away their whole “Brandon” slur by adopting it, going dark with it, and selling merch with it. They dropped it like it bit them, because it did. Now they flounder. “Jacked up Joe” doesn’t play because they have heavily invested in “Sleepy Joe” and then their guy dozed off in court, daily. Dark Brandon was a stroke of genius. They had a stick, he took it away from them and beat them with it.

@JuliusGoat Demilitarize the Police. When W started militarizing the police departments, their budgets ate up more money than towns could afford, so services suffered. The police went to war against the citizens. And that war continues, no one is safe. In Texas and other Red (with blood) States, anything that moves can be considered a threat: kids, starving dogs, anything and anyone. They cannot have immunity from their actions. They must be better trained & qualified, not militarized.

@Strandjunker Fearful citizens are easier to control by lies, conspiracy notions. The more they can get us to stampede, the more we trample ourselves. Guns create terror. Terror creates stampedes. Nothing gets investigated, looked at, higher up… so they get away with more and more while we dodge bullets that no one can outrun. The slaughter of children warms their hearts and fills their pockets.

    so. in January I was in a bad car accident. fractured spine, ruptured discs, cracked pelvis, broken arm. last 4 months have been v hard. tonight though I'm going back to my adult dance class for the first time. I wasn't sure I'd ever even walk properly again so this is a moment for me. a good one

    @ElleGray I always told my exes: I hope you learned from this what kind of man you want to be, what kind of partner you want to be and what you don’t want to be. I hope your next relationship benefits from this. Some did, some didn’t. One “didn’t” tried to return to me. My comment: “I wasted my time on you. You learned nothing.” That was a worse feeling for me. I did tell the mom of 1 ex: “Keep interfering in his life and you will have no grandchildren.” She learned from that!

    these are late bc they required a child to send photos lol but my daughter was on an overnight ferry out in the Pacific ocean (near Haida Gwaii, BC) when the northern lights came.

    The kids had one of the nights of their lives. I think these are great, so I'm putting them here

    @deedeewms @wdlindsy I’d like to see these cable/network ‘news’ shows that interview cops who hold up bicycle locks and books written by esteemed authors as ‘proof’ of violence by college students… have those same shows interview the protesters. They never do. They only hear, broadcast,share, the police side of the story. Because “Police never lie” amiright? It fits their dramatic narrative while painting abusive police as brave and heroic.

    @marcelias I ran into an interesting problem this year. I check my registration every year. I vote absentee (almost 30 years now). This year, I checked, I’m registered… but my ballot never came. Turns out they dropped me off the absentee ballot. I wonder how many people they’re doing that to?

    @GottaLaff You will also (if you pursue citizenship) have to pass yet another test (Canadian history, Fluency in French (If you are under 67 yrs old. If you are over, you can skip both those tests).

    Keep documentation on every trip you take— outside of your province. After your Perm Residency (PR) (5yrs) you can begin to apply for Citizenship.

    Highly recommend you not change residences more than 1x in 5 years if you can help it. If you must, document the reasons (keep a diary)

    @GottaLaff And keep your Landing Papers in a safe place. Those are not reissued and they are a requirement. Start creating your files now (check the website for what documents you will need) and that will save you a lot of time, stress and hair.

    @GottaLaff @mwyman the inventory of your possessions at the border is key. Ask your atty what to claim if they try to tax you on th value of your belongings. Pretty sure that “I’ve been accepted at permanent resident and this is my home/personal belongings” will do. But they will ask you if you plan to sell any of your stuff. I only ran into one snotty agent when I moved. Questioned the box that had my dog bed. Demanding to know WHY I was shipping it. I finally said: “You keep it.”

We’re going to make it so you don’t have to keep voting… would you like that?’ That was over 6 mos ago. I would not be surprised if he didn’t start reinforcing it, repeating it in various terms up until Election Day.
