I boost and favorite a LOT!

Came here from the Reddit APIcalypse and haven't left the Fediverse since! I'm a software engineer and I'm just hoping to make a positive change in the world in the grand scheme of things!

I'm bi, identify as a man (I'm AMAB) and have worn the Pride flag in my username for almost a year now, so don't think I just put it up for pride month!

There are a lot of analog horror works that try to make moths scary and ... I just don't get it. Moths are such silly little floofs. Total disasters. Just fuzzy ones.

How can that be scary?

Oh there's a skull on the fuzzy wuzzy little moth? It's like a teddy bear trying to be in a biker gang.

Oh the moths are huge? Huggable at last!

Creatures with no intimidation factor. Only spooky trait is liking The Nitetime but that's because they are shy :(

    What are some tips for a US citizen looking to find a software engineering job in the EU / Norway?

    I'm tired of our politics sucking so much ass, and I'm genuinely scared for the 2024 election.

    I'm conversational in Spanish and Japanese and I'm learning Norwegian Bokmål (I can speak enough to get directions).

    So far, I've been applying to Norwegian / EU jobs on LinkedIn, but most require that you are in the EU already or EMEA.

    @rysiek honestly, from what I understand about the 2017 version of Mastodon, this is a pretty solid take.

    Mastodon has matured a LOT since then. The federation clearly tripped him up quite a bit, but I took a lot of the article as constructive criticism at worst.

    Either way, it's come very far. I still hate "toots", though. That's one of the single worst things about this platform. Can we just come up with a different name???

    There is a built-in translation system on Mastodon. If it's present on your server, you will see a "Translate" link below posts in other languages. Clicking the link will translate the post.

    However, translation systems cost money to run, so not every server has it activated. If you're unsure whether your server has it or not, ask your admin. (You may also consider donating to them to help with their server bills.)

    @FediTips notably, these translators are inaccurate in a lot of cases. Check my post history for a good example with Japanese
