Sounds like there’s a headless version of Plexamp that can run on a Pi.

If you use Plex, you would be able to use Plexamp on your computer or phone to play your music on the Pi’s Plexamp.

Or you could get a modern receiver that supports Chromecast and AirPlay and use one of those to stream to the receiver.

The purpose of a system is what it does.

If a system crushes orphans, its purpose is to crash orphans. The designers and participants may say otherwise, but they are ignoring the crushed orphans.

If a system moves people around and some of them die, that’s the purpose of the system.

You can say “we don’t want any of them to die” and that’s true, but the system doesn’t reflect that.

You can say “fewer people will die because more people can get to hospitals, but some will die as a result of people moving around” and the system will demonstrate that.

Is that a “we don’t want anyone to die” system or is it a “we are going to accept some people dying as a result of the system so that more people can be saved” system?

Is there any evidence of a difference in healthfulness between having fruit vs having added sugar along with fibre foods?

All of the info about why added sugar is unhealthy compared to fruits seems to be that the sugar in fruit comes with fibre and nutrients that offset the negative health impacts of sugar to a degree by delaying its absorption and preventing a blood sugar spike....

Like someone else said, it’s a hobby. I spend money on things, they make me happy for a little bit, they make problems for me, rinse, repeat.

Why do people go fishing when you can buy fish in the store? Why do people draw instead of taking pictures?

It’s nice to go to bed with all the lights on, press a button and have them all go off. It’s nice to have the doors lock when I leave and unlock when I come home. It’s nice to get an alert on my phone if my garage door is open when I leave. It’s nice that all the lights come on as the sun sets.

None of these are necessary, but all of them are nice and it would be annoying if I had to go back to dumb lights.

Every time I’ve switched jobs I’ve changed languages. I got a lot of raises that way. Don’t get stuck thinking of yourself as a language-specific programmer, figure out the types of companies you like and the kind of work you thrive doing.

Some people like the constant greenfield work of agencies, others like to go deep in domain expertise by doing corporate work. Some like front-end web, some like backend and databases. Find your niche, but don’t be afraid to explore outside of it.

I don’t understand how to read the top one.

So the “a” in “loam” in the middle-bottom, it’s at an intersection of 3 lines. If I follow those lines to each side I see that loam is 60% clay, 40% silt, 60% sand, and 40% sand.

Ok, maybe I’m not supposed to follow the grey lines, but the cardinal directions? To the left, loam is 20% clay, to the right 80% silt, and below 50% sand.

The more I try to understand this chart the more confused I get.
