This juvenile Dusky Moorhen was swimming with its parents but constantly calling (the parents were having none of it though).

A magical experience: a Peregrine Falcon landed a few metres from me and chilled for many minutes. In the end, it was I who left, not the bird. For video of bird calling, see my post: https://sydneybirder.com/2024/05/09/peregrine-falcon-drops-in-to-chat/

Look who was back in the backyard this morning.

Yep, our little Swamp Wallaby. Happily munching on grass, grass seeds and broad-leaf weeds.

I disturbed her when I popped downstairs and she bounded off a few metres, but I explained to her there was nothing to fear and she patiently waited for me to go back upstairs before continuing her grazing.

A Swamp Wallaby, turned to face the camera, ears pricked at the sound of the camera shutter.

It's treacherous business relocating along a power line when you have giant webbed feet

A male Australasian Darter using wings, tail, and at times the long neck to balance, catching himself with his left foot in a moment

There were plenty of perfectly good and safe trees to choose from here, but sure

This female Variegated Fairywren has big wet dog vibes

The trees were dripping with early morning dew, and as she enthusiastically charged between the branches she's soaked up a great deal of it

Happy everyone!

Meanwhile, the actual bath has been taken over by to be used as a source of drinking water. I do also have bowls on the ground that they more usually use, but the lack of rain means they’re taking whatever water they can find 🌿🪶

Down to four New Holland honeyeaters in that improvised bath tub, but things look to be getting a bit competitive. 🌿🪶
