"Last September, Swift put up an Instagram post urging her fans to register to vote, and the non-partisan Vote.org reported that 35,000 people did just that.
Oh, I almost forgot. Taylor has 279 million Instagram followers.
"At the very moment that Biden is showing increasing strength among women, Trump has declared war on a strong woman who is wildly popular with young, female voters. One observer illustrated the situation in an imaginary dialog as follows:
Political Consultant: We have a huge problem with women.
"The Trump Campaign apparently is very worried about [Taylor Swift's] potential influence. His allies have pledged a 'holy war' against her, and the ex-president has complained that he is actually more popular than she is.
That 'holy war' is playing out in real time in the openly expressed fever dreams of the MAGA influencers.
"These attacks upon Swift may prove to be a tipping point for 'normal' America to finally pay attention to exactly how crazy and extreme the right has become.
And when Swift does actually endorse Biden, and she asks millions of Swifties to help her keep Trump from office, my only thought will be, 'Look what you made her do.'”
Before all of these #MAGA attacks on #TaylorSwift, all I knew about her was that she was a rather successful pop singer. Because of this "holy war" against her, I have done some, admittedly shallow, research on her, and I am actually currently listening to her "Taylor's Version" album.
Oh — if Roseanne Barr says that "they" are using Taylor Swift as an election interference psyop, it must be true, then.
Since, as we all know, Roseanne is always a voice of reason and sanity when it comes to making political judgments and critiquing information that is perfect balderdash….
The fact that we’ve all been talking about these idiotic #TaylorSwift conspiracy theories is really a testament to the right’s communication infrastructure. People whose brains have turned to pudding always seem to set the agenda.
"The state of affairs among MAGA Media diehards as it sits today is remarkable. A subset of America actually purports to boycott Disney, the world's preeminent entertainment company; Bud Light, once America's most popular beer; Target, the quintessential brick-and-mortar shopping destination; Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company that produced life-saving Covid-19 vaccines;"
"Major League Baseball, the nation's favorite pastime; and now Taylor Swift, a generational icon and one of the most successful musical artists of all time. …
'They’ve built out this alternate universe and reality of grievance and it feels like instead of using it to wage an effective culture war, they’re fully lost in it and can’t see that they’ve chosen as their primary enemy the person with the literal highest approval rating in American life right now.'"
"The Taylor Swift crisis is every bit as fictional as the 'border crisis,' or as the supposed crisis of election integrity which Trump used as the pretense for his coup attempt. Wild nonsense which attracts eyeballs has become the GOP brand."
I know very little about Taylor Swift, other than her music, which I must admit is pretty solid (that last album was meh but w/e). What I do know is that her tour last year caused unholy chaos, with people begging for tickets, and scalpers selling them for many times the original cost. The right wing pretending they’re gonna take down T Swift is hilarious. Y’all — she’s got an army of 12 year old girls, backed by the previous three generations of teens. Some of us are almost 40. Good luck.
"Fox News is scared as hell of Taylor Swift endorsing Joe Biden. After it was reported that Biden was actively seeking Swift’s endorsement, Fox News stars have been pleading with the megastar to 'stay out of politics' and 'stick to singing.'”
"Last month, the source close to #Trump adds, the ex-president commented to some confidants that it 'obviously' made no sense that he was not named Time magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year — an honor that went to none other than Swift in December"
Trump privately grumbles to aides he’s 'more popular' than #TaylorSwift: report - Alternet.org
Robert B. Hubbell on the right-wing freak-out over Taylor Swift:
"The fact that they believe Taylor Swift is part of a deep-state conspiracy signals their anxiety and insecurity.
No one should dismiss the enormous influence that Taylor Swift has over her fans. An endorsement would likely motivate hundreds of thousands of young voters to show up in November."
"And what Republicans fear most is voters who show up at the polls. Republicans win when people don’t vote. That’s the fear at the center of their freak out over Taylor Swift—that young people might be motivated to vote."
I predict that #TaylorSwift will not make the transpacific flight from Tokyo to Las Vegas to attend the #SuperBowl. #TravisKelce is working but so is she, and they respect each other's work. Just like he missed her 34th birthday.
The classified documents case will make use of a recording which indicates that #Trump had a highly sensitive document which he knew was NOT declassified.
The chain of evidence looks strong and while there is much news media spinning, a court of law is more rigorous environment where focus on fact is primary
The #RightWing media sphere is going all sorts of bonkers with #TaylorSwift conspiracy theories
If takes a special type of paranoia to suggest that #SuperBowlLVIII is rigged. Apparently a #KansasCityChiefs victory featuring the pop star’s boyfriend #TravisKelce’s will be used to announce a #Biden endorsement
