It's #VGMWednesday, so here's my favorite Donkey Kong Country song out of any I've heard (and one of my top favorite pieces of music in any video game, EVER) - a fully restored version of 'Mining Melancholy'. Check out those choral voices!
@chris@OutofPrintArchive On the arcade, that's quite hard. The level that has me almost rage quitting everytime in the arcade is when the T1000 in the helicopter is attacking the heroes in the SWAT van. I swear it's pot luck if you make it through or not.
@bookstodon@thevglibrary Three for nostalgia is one of my favourite of the series, but after playing it later in life I quite enjoyed playing Four a lot. Felt it improved on the previous game in some ways
So far I'm quite impressed with #StarOcean and the wide array of ideas, both from a narrative and a mechanical point of view, this game is displaying in the just two hours I've been playing. And all of that is accompanied by absolutely gorgeous visuals, some of the best I've seen in a #SNES game...
I can't wait to see what else this game has to offer!!
I've stumbled upon this side-by-side comparison of the original #StarOcean on the SNES and the remake for modern consoles using the Second Departure engine and someone should go to jail for this. The "remake" looks absolutely terrible in comparison with the original game!
@chris At least they added the QoL improvements, and maybe even explained the skills, abilities, and talents a little bit better? So far I know they do cost money but I have no idea how or when to use them, so I guess I'll have to dig around the internet for a while to figure it out 🤣😅
Here at home we've ended up with three Switches, one for each adult and a shared one between the kids... We're a very gamer family 🤣
Shin Megami Tensei, the third game in Megami Tensei series and the first Shin Megami Tensei proper! Setting in Tokyo, 199x, has all the bases of modern SMT mainline (dungeon crawling, demon summoning, fusion, negotiations and recruitments), and turn-based battle system!
